eBay, Inc. seeks Data Science - Analyst 2 in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Build Robust and Scalable Analytic Reports from Massive Data Sets. Track Key Metrics Crucial For Product Launches, Ensuring A Seamless and Successful Deployment Of New Features. Turn Big Data into Measurable Insights into Product and Business Initiatives. Uncover Innovative Product Growth Opportunities Rooted in Data-Driven Findings. Draw Conclusions from Large Datasets and Help Drive Business Decisions With Data-Driven Thinking. Utilize Excel, Amplitude and Other Advanced Techniques to Collect, Display And Interpret Data. Utilize Programming Languages Such as Sql, Python, Etc, And Tools Such As Hadoop, Hive, Spark To Generate Queries For Data Analysis. Innovative Product Growth Opportunities Based On Insights, And Create Momentum Through Influence. Present Complex Analyses and Insights Effectively in Simple Terms. Build Basic Prototype Models, Conduct A/B Testing on Product Features And Drive Actions Based On Analytic Results. Construct Complex Mathematical Models to Optimize User Experience Of eBay’s Recommendation System.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Analytics, or a closely related field.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Utilizing Python for data analysis, statistical modeling and developing machine learning algorithms. Utilizing libraries such as NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib for tasks including data manipulation, visualization and automation.
2. SQL for data querying, extraction, manipulation, and analysis, enabling efficient data retrieval and management. Constructing relational database on-premises from real-life datasets.
3. designing and implementing A/B tests to assess the effectiveness of product features or market strategies. Able to interpret results statistically and make data-driven recommendations based on A/B test outcomes.
4. Understanding practical application of the Hadoop ecosystem components, including HDFS and MapReduce. Becoming proficient in handling and processing large-scale datasets using Hadoop for distributed computing analysis.
5. Using Java in the context of data manipulation, data processing and implementing scalable data-driven solutions.
6. Using Spark map-reduce concepts for clustering, similarity search, web analytics and classification. Gaining hands-on expertise leveraging PySpark for Big Data applications in client-server environments.
7. Acquiring experience in using deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras and PyTorch for tasks like regression and logistic regression, support vector machines, neural networks, decision trees, random forests and online learning.
8. proficient in interpreting standard regression output, conducting model selection and validation, as well as applying principal components analysis, pairwise comparisons and time-series analysis using R. 9. Natural Language Processing - handling and analyzing textual data, including pre-processing, tokenization and building models for text-based applications.
10. Utilizing Tableau for data visualization, creating interactive dashboards, and generating comprehensive reports that facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Base salary: $140,000-205,700 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
