Job Summary:

To manage the technical, administrative, and day-to-day activities of the Neurophysiology Laboratory to ensure effective and efficient operations and quality patient care.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of Neurodiagnostic (EEG/EMG) experience

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:  American Board Of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET), American Association Of Electrodiagnostic Technologist, (AAET) or equivalent registration.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of the functions and disorders of the nervous system and the principles and practical applications of neurodiagnostic testing. Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, family members, and staff. Ability to recognize normal and abnormal electrical activity. Ability to comprehend computer averaging and data acquisition.  Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the schedules, coordination of daily activities, work assignments, training and evaluation of the neurophysicology department.  Oversees administrative activities and acts as a clinical resource.
• Develops and implements neurophysiology laboratory policies and procedures
• Maintains instrumentation and equipment in proper working order, checking calibrations and making minor maintenance adjustments and repairs deemed appropriate maintains departmental records to include productivity figures.
• Monitors and facilitates workflow, maximizing utilization of space and resources to provide optimal services and patient care.
• Performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic procedures in the laboratory, ICU, and CCU. Maintains proper standards for application of EEG electrotrodes.
• Performs all phases of EEG testing, evoked potentials, nerve conduction studies, intra-operative monitoring, and brainstem monitoring to include hook-up, reading, and scoring of the patient.
