ABOUT THE JOB

Our Domain model will continuously evolve and improve. The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Support driving the deployment of the Domain Operating Model evolution stream recommendations under NAB’s Group Strategy Evolution.

  • Support Co-design and embed squads, processes and ways of working to improve the effectiveness of the domain model

  • Support how we enhance the end-to-end delivery process and tooling environment to drive and embed a business outcomes-based approach

  • Support how we align with technology modernisation and enterprise technology strategy as we roll out the Domain Model evolution

  • Drive improvements in engineering culture alongside technology leaders, fostering innovation, quality and continuous learning,

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion modern engineering practices, guiding teams to adopt best in class software development, DevOps and architecture principles

  • Advocated for a developer obsessed culture, flattening leadership layers and promoting continuous learning.

  • Deliver tooling enhancements that improve collaboration, transparency and enable faster outcomes for customers.

  • Introduce and embed DORA and FLOW metrics, and any other continuous delivery metrics as the domains and enterprise evolves

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on DevOps, overseeing pipeline optimisation, release management, and automation initiatives

  • Identify and remove bottlenecks that inhibit rapid delivery, ensuring engineers can focus on coding and innovation

  • Guide squads, domains and their leaders on modern Software Delivery and Agile methodologies, ensuring product and customer centric thinking and fast feedback loops are core to delivery

  • Contribute to the execution of our org model strategy including extracting insights into the drivers of performance.

  • Facilitate alignment and collaboration across domains ensuring best practices are shared and applied consistently to drive results.

  • Facilitate alignment between engineering, product and business teams to co-create roadmaps, defined priorities, align to enterprise initiatives, and validate customer outcomes.

  • Engage with key stakeholders across the organisation, maintaining strong relationships to support delivery objectives and solve challenges.

  • Proactively monitor risk and assurance requirements within agreed risk appetite and manage non-compliance in a timely manner

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Capabilities

  • Deep understanding of software development (OOP, SOLID), cloud-native architectures,  and microservices

  • Ability to coach and influence architects, engineering managers, product leaders, and all technical leaders, enabling them to design and implement solutions that reduce complexity, improve reusability, and improve speed of delivery

  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD, IAC, release automation etc.) to foster continuous delivery – streamline code-to-production pipelines and delivery to our customers

  • Advanced knowledge of agile and modern SDLC methodologies (Scum, Kanban, Lean) with the flexibility to tailor approaches to drive team needs

  • Familiarity with DORA metrics and FLOW frameworks to track and enhance delivery performance

  • Strong facilitation and communication skills to mentor at all levels (executive to developer)

  • Adept at creating developer focused environments that optimise flow, minimise handoffs, and maximise coding time

  • Able to support squads and leaders incorporate customer feedback loops, MVPs and rapid iteration into product development cycles, while at the same time ensuring we are planning across technical designs to ensure reusability and maintainability

Experience

  • Experience delivering transformation, ideally technology or op model related, in a complex organisational environment

  • Experience in delivering end-to-end processes with consideration of various stakeholder needs (i.e. business and technology)

  • Experience with Technology ways of working and how these align to broader enterprise delivery processes is preferred

  • Experience working as a software engineer, engineering manager or technical program manager is preferred

  • Solid grounding in OOP, SOLID and scaled architecture preferred

  • Experience working in a lean or modern technology organisation as a technical leader preferred

  • Proven success in delivering complex software projects within fintech, enterprise, or large-scale tech environments preferred

Qualification Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry accreditations

  • Computer science or IT degree preferred, or similar experience of hands-on time in technical teams as an engineer or technical lead
