Position Summary

WashU is seeking a qualified, highly experienced, and motivated Animal Facility Manager for its Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM) team. As part of a dynamic and collaborative team, you will play a crucial role in supporting cutting-edge biomedical research. Our AAALAC-accredited program provides laboratory animal services to researchers at WashU, a leader in medicine, patient care, biomedical research and the scientific community.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Entrusted with overseeing all aspects of facility management, ensuring the delivery of world-class animal care and research support.

  • Leads efforts to improve and expand facility operations, implement best practices, and solve operational challenges to meet the growing needs of cutting-edge research programs.
  • Acts as a key liaison between internal teams, senior leadership, and external partners (vendors, contractors, etc.) to ensure seamless facility operations and timely service delivery.
  • Manages facility budgets, plans resources, and ensures cost-effective operations. Collaborates with the Senior Associate Director of DCM to allocate space and resources effectively to support research goals.
  • Cultivates a performance-driven culture, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to facility management staff. Drives continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation across teams.
  • Leads the daily operations of the NRB animal facility, managing a diverse team of supervisors and technicians. Ensures adherence to best practices and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality animal care.

Salary Range

$55,200.00 - $100,000.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
