As a senior and trusted advisor to the CEO, you will enable the CEO to effectively scale and execute on duties and commitments to key stakeholders by having a full understanding of business priorities and the full range of the CEO responsibilities. You will position the CEO to be fully efficient, effective and successful, by managing day-to-day business responsibilities and strategic programs, including Transformation, Stakeholder Management, as well as a disciplined framework for strategy development and business planning.

You will also further refine the Chief of Staff role in support of a public company CEO, by introducing strong planning, execution discipline for Transition Management, Stakeholder Engagement, lead communication efforts ensuring that the organizational voice of the CEO is consistently messaged with internal and external parties and Prioritization/Time-Management.

Key Responsibilities

As the Chief of Staff, you will act in the following key roles to varying degrees:

  • Business Strategy & Planning
    • Ensure integrated annual cycles and governance frameworks for goal-setting, corporate strategy development and business planning
    • Play a key role in articulating the organization’s strategic objectives and performance agenda to an executive and senior audience, leading preparation of message and presentation delivery as required
  • Business Analysis & Research
    • Research and gather information supporting key initiatives and analyses; Produce reports on peer and competitor analysis, industry trends, best practices, etc.; Broadly support research needs across the team
  • Engagement Management
    • Prepare the CEO for meetings with stakeholders such as investors, clients, regulators, Board of Directors, internal and external business leaders, as well as for speaking engagements and events; Prepare presentations/materials and ensure consistency of messaging
    • Prepare communications, internally and externally, such as organizational announcements, external speaking points, and other critical communications using CEO 'voice' and messaging, in partnering with Corporate Communications
    • Drive and role model leadership best practice; establish operating rhythm for the ELT and provide operational support to ensure smooth running of the organization
  • Administration
    • Support and manage day-to-day responsibilities; manage special or cross-organizational projects and tasks to completion; Coordinate, prioritize, and manage the scheduling of the CEO; Convene stakeholders, gather status and information updates, collage internal reports and dashboards
    • Plan and recommend internal and external meetings including media and speaker engagement requests, liaising with key Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Group members as appropriate
    • Assess inquiries directed to the CEO, and propose the proper course of action/delegation to the appropriate individuals
    • Create and design high quality presentations for internal and external meetings

Key Skills and Requirements

  • Strategic Leadership: Significant experience partnering at the executive level to set a high bar for performance, engagement and commitment
  • Enterprise Global Mindset: Significant experience managing global relationships and strategic constituent with a focus on Japan
  • Collaboration: Develop and maintain key partnerships to achieve high quality results
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and influencing skills, along with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders of various levels in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple responsibilities efficiently
  • Drive Towards Results: Deep experience around the execution and delivery of results, by approaching tasks proactively and anticipating needs. Able to think quickly and move with agility to (re)prioritize as needed.  Act with a sense of urgency
  • Deep Industry Experience: Substantial insurance industry experience, particularly across life and retirement products
  • Leadership Engagement & Support: Demonstrated experience supporting a CEO of a publicly traded company and engaging with C-suite and board-level executives

Location: New York/New Jersey

Travel: 25% or more travel as required based on CEO schedule

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ and New York City, NY the base salary range is $265,000 - $325,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. In addition, we're proud to offer a range of competitive benefits.
