ABOUT THE ROLE: 

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to join our GEL Head Office in Barbados. This role reports directly to the Manager – Payroll & Pensions.

In this essential role, you will help ensure the production of weekly and monthly payrolls for Group companies timely and in accordance with established regulations, and to provide adequate support to the Pensions section.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As Payroll Clerk, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Process weekly and monthly payrolls  

  • Produce weekly and monthly reports required for Group companies

  • Produce weekly pension listings

  • Input monthly data required for statutory balancing

  • Email listings to third party financial institutions to facilitate reconciliation of payments received

  • Close weekly companies timely to facilitate processing of the next payroll cycle


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • At least five (5) CXCs including Mathematics and English

  • An Associate Degree in Accounting

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.would be an asset

  • At least five (5) years’ experience in an Accounts and/or Payroll Department

  • Understanding of the Employment laws, Income Tax and NISSS regulations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, thoroughness, and confidentiality

  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to adhere to strict deadlines

  • Strong team player

  • Must be flexible and reliable
