Badger Meter is hiring a Software Engineering Intern to work this summer fully onsite at our Los Gatos office in California. The Software Engineering Intern will be responsible for software development & implementation of test applications, coding, and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software for internal and external customers. The intern will write programs according to given specifications using tools like JIRA, Git, AWS and languages like Python, JavaScript or C#. The intern will collaborate across departments to learn and understand problems with software.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Software development & design, (installing, configuring, testing), project plans and verification

  • Knowledgeable of software development concepts, process, and tools

  • Maintaining and upgrading existing software applications written in different programming languages (Python, JavaScript, C#, React, SQL, Elasticsearch)

  • Assist in creating reports, memos, status updates

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Investigate customer issues for software performance to identify product solutions

  • Maintain confidentiality of company intellectual property and customer information

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related field

  • Only accepting those currently pursuing an undergraduate degree

  • First preference to California students.

  • Work authorization is required during and any point after graduation (No OPT, CPT, H1B, F1 etc. at this time)

  • Intermediate computer/technical skills in Microsoft products

  • Programming experience in Python, React, C#, JavaScript, or other object-oriented languages

  • First preference to current freshman or sophomore students (2027 or beyond)

  • Hourly wage will between $25-30 depending on year in school
