About ThedaCare!

Summary :

The MRI Technologist performs MRI exams on patients of all ages. Applies principles, theories, and techniques of magnetic resonance scanning to provide and identify acceptable diagnostic quality images. Adheres to ThedaCare safety and quality standards, and uses proper ergonomic techniques. Assists providers in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Applies knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology, and uses critical thinking to implement appropriate imaging techniques using established protocols to acquire required images.

  • Positions patients for scans using appropriate coils and immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and team members.

  • Demonstrates competency in intravenous access and administration of contrast in accordance with established protocols.

  • Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients. Ensures patient and family concerns or needs are met.

  • Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record.

  • Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies or other regulatory bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program

  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Wisconsin license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance

  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Normally works in climate controlled office environment

  • Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space

  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

  • Occasional high noise level in work environment.

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.

  • Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.

  • Use of computers throughout the work day

  • Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers

This is a multi-modality position for MRI, CT and x-ray. Hours are Monday-Friday 730-4 or 7-330. 1-2 holidays per year. No Call
