Job Description:

Marvel Entertainment is seeking a Director, Sourcing & Manufacturing to oversee all vendor and material sourcing for its vertical and custom publishing businesses. This role will work closely with domestic and overseas printing partners to secure commitments for press time and ensure all quality standards are being met. The ideal candidate will have an expert understanding of manufacturing workflows and will possess a cunning ability to navigate across various supply chain challenges and difficulties. This is a full-time role reporting to Marvel’s VP, Planning and Forecasting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead in identifying, quality-testing, and onboarding new printer relationships (domestic and international)

• Solidify existing print partnerships; maintain strong relationship with management at plants to ensure Marvel’s business is held at highest regard

• Secure short-term and long-term press commitments for vertical and custom publishing businesses

• Oversee PP&B budget of $20-25M annually

• Work with paper mills to formulate and secure specialized paper-stock across various product types

• Communicate all necessary production, packaging, and shipping specifications to vendors; make certain all product is properly delivered to distribution and promotional partners when/as expected

• In partnership with distribution partners, evaluate and implement measures to reduce damages across Marvel’s supply chain

• Assess Marvel’s editorial, production, and file-delivery workflows against industry best practices and provide recommendation to streamline with integrated technologies and realignment of processes

• Work alongside VP, Forecasting and Planning to develop a long-term, diversified manufacturing strategy

• Oversee manufacturing and logistics team

Basic Qualifications:

• 15+ years’ experience with strong understanding of publishing manufacturing workflows

• Proven ability to plan and manage manufacturing operations for maximum efficiency

• Expert Negotiator

• Superior vendor management skills

• Possession of a strong work ethic and high level of confidentiality

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree.
