Job Description

The Senior Manager of Distribution is responsible for the day-to-day operations regarding warehouse business activities. The Senior Manager of Distribution ensures all tasks are completed safely and efficiently and ultimately accountable for a profitable organization. The Senior Manager reports to the Distribution Center Manager.

  

Responsibilities 

The Senior Manager of Distribution is responsible for but not limited to: 

Associate Relations 

  • Prepare, maintain and communicate all operational goals while ensuring all operating procedures are being followed per company guidelines 
  • Manage, coach, mentor, and develop staff to achieve objectives; conduct performance reviews 
  • Participate in the recruitment and new hire onboarding process while ensuring SCLS’s culture is being fostered 
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities by the organization’s policies and procedures 
  • Address complaints and resolve problems 

Customer Relations 

  • Provide superior customer service by maintaining professional and courteous relationships with all customers 
  • Interface with internal stakeholders as well as customers to establish and accomplish goals 
  • Communicate progress/conditions and conduct tours for the customer as directed by upper management 
  • Audit operations to ensure service standards are being met 
  • Act as a liaison with carrier contractors and customers 
  • Act as a community representative for SCLS 
  • Create and deliver effective verbal presentations to management and customers as necessary 

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure company values are observable throughout the operation 
  • Monitor space utilization/layout to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations 
  • Monitor and ensure departmental/facility key performance indicators (KPI) are met in a timely and cost-effective manner 
  • Ensure proper maintenance and sanitation of equipment, grounds, pest control, and refuse disposal

Business Profitability 

  • On-going management of facility fiscal performance, including profit & loss and budgeting 
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of all necessary reports and records regarding facility operations 
  • Monitor facility purchasing process to include auditing, guideline compliance, and approval by creating programs to maximize cost savings for SCLS and customers 
  • Manage inbound and outbound loading/unloading, the accuracy of inventory, and warehousing    

Qualifications 

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, Management, or another related field is highly preferred 
  • Must possess 10 years of experience within the 3PL industry, in which five (5) years are in a leadership role of a warehouse or distribution center 
  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience managing a P&L 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Ability to drive results and develop a team while creating solid relationships with clients and internal associates 
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, associates, and the public 
  • Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; possess solid judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 
  • Strong analytical skills, including analysis and interpretation of complex business documents as well as statistics and modeling 
  • A proven track record of mentoring and developing direct reports and subordinates
