About This Opportunity 

The Mayne Professor and Head, Mayne Academy of Psychiatry is a senior academic role that plays a critical role in the management of relationships with stakeholders and in the academic advancement of the discipline of psychiatry. Leading the Mayne Academy of Psychiatry, key responsibilities for this position across the academic domains will include:

  • Academic Leadership, Service and Engagement: Lead and support the Mayne Academy in achieving excellence in research and education, fostering a strong international profile, and effectively managing its workforce and academic community.

  • Teaching: Lead and oversee the Master of Mental Health Program, guide psychiatry teaching within the MD program, and contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality medical education

  • Research: Lead and advance research within the Academy, fostering a strong research culture and supporting the professional development of researchers.

About You 

  • Medical registration in Australia with RANZCP specialist qualification.

  • PhD or equivalent, or relevant professional and academic service.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline or a subspecialty.

  • Strong academic leadership skills and ability to build effective teams.

  • Outstanding research track record with high impact and international recognition.

  • Proven expertise in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

  • Ability to build effective relationships and represent the discipline.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check, AHPRA registration, and mandatory immunisations.
