What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):

  • Associate's degree in general studies plus 6-years direct service experience in a Mental Health field (QMHP) OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health -related discipline plus 4 years direct service experience in Mental Health field (QMHP); or
  • Master’s degree in Mental Health-related discipline plus 2 years direct service experience in a Mental Health field (QMHP);
  • 0-4 years experience in a healthcare setting with work experience with seriously emotionally disturbed children or adults (preferred)

How you will make a difference (job overview):

Rehabilitation Specialist provides direct and indirect services to adolescents under the supervision of the Director of Group Services, Coordinator or designee.  May provide directions to Rehab Aides.  Perform rehabilitation assessment of new residents utilizing verbal, written, auditory and visual communication.  Develop an individualized schedule of therapeutic groups with and for each adolescent.  Makes referrals to appropriate community agencies based on rehabilitation assessments and treatment team concurrence, e.g., VRS, GED.  Leads or co-leads therapeutic groups.  Coordinate and monitor daily unit activity program, supervise adolescents on outings, prepare verbal reports regarding adolescent’s participation and progress in the activity program and written documentation of the same in the medical record system.  Participate in Treatment Team meetings and assist in the development of a written Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan. 

Division/Program Overview:

  • A comprehensive mental health in patient residential facility for adolescents
  • Serving up to 60 adolescents (ranging from ages 12-17) statewide
  • Intensive residential services dedicated to serving clients with serious mental health problems with the highest dignity and quality of services since 1988
  • Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility, Community Treatment Facility and Non-Public High School – 24/7 locked facility
  • Multidisciplinary Mental Health Services, Therapeutic Behavioral Health Services, and Intensive Day Treatment Program
