The Shared Services Manger assists in overseeing the operations of the Insurance, Order Entry and Scheduling Departments. The Manager will provide support in research and quality control as detailed below.

Essential Functions

  • Provide guidance and training to new team members.  Act as the liaison between radiology team members and internal/external customers as issues arise.  Assist with radiology team member schedules & assignments to ensure all centers and carriers are adequately covered.
  • Primarily responsible for monitoring ECM (Enterprise Care Management) Worklists to ensure patients referrals are coordinated between insurance and scheduling teams, including follow up tasks, and notated according to company standards. Responsible for creation of new insurance carriers in the ECM according to company standards. 
  • Monitor centralized fax folder to ensure items are distributed and scanned in.  Fill in to perform tasks when staff is out, or department is behind. May require additional or flexible hours.
  • Responsible for compiling and updating imaging reference guides for different carriers.

  • Foster communication between OSD and imaging facilities to help improve workflow and quickly resolve any issues.  Escalate as appropriate.  Responsible for maintenance of the Shared Services manual ensuring updates are made with new items, rules, policies etc.  

  • Assists with new hire and annual team member performance evaluations, and corrective actions.

  • Responsible for researching and delegating inquiries from other departments to appropriate verifier when necessary, followed by documenting the applicable systems. Monitors and performs quality control on individual team member productivity (TOS, notes, Auth, etc) to check for accuracy.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience preferred

Experience & Skills 

Required
•    3+ years of prior medical office insurance verification experience;
•    Knowledge of HMO, PPO, Government, Work Comp, LOP, and PIP Insurances;
•    Must have excellent customer service skills;
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
•    Multi-tasking skills are essential;
•    Must be reliable, flexible and motivated;
•    Able to accept accountability and demonstrates a willingness to seek solutions 
•    Self-starter
•    Familiarity with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, Fuji RIS, and Imagine Billing Software.
•    Job duties, tasks, work hours and work requirements may be changed at any time. 
•    Acceptable job performance includes completion of the job responsibilities as well as compliance with the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of Akumin.
•    This position includes a personal quota as well as ensuring team production standards are met, as set forth by the Director. All goals will be expressed in writing
 

Preferred
•    Prior Supervisory Experience 
•    Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
•    Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
