As the Field Safety Manager (Matting Solutions), you will be the acting safety representative for a geographic region. You will provide safety support and guidance to field operations personnel as well as support the Mgr., Region Safety with safety and DOT related items. In the event of an incident or emergency, the Regional Safety Manager may be called to travel to a jobsite immediately.
The operational area covers IL, IN, OH, WV, PA, MD, VA, KY. This position requires 100% travel, comes with company vehicle, and travel expenses are covered.
What you’ll do:
Ensure training has been completed by employees in hazard recognition applicable to their work environment including:
First Aid/CPR/BBP; Forklift & equipment operator certification; PPE; Hazard communication; Powersafe Training; OSHA 10/30
Supervisors Academy training (JHA’s, Pre-Use Inspection Checklist for equipment, Field Audit Form, Injury-Illness-Incident Investigation Form with Root Cause Analysis, Job Knowledge Training Record (JKTR), Loading/Unloading Form
Support the development, implementation, and tracking of a health and safety management system built upon the foundation of a continuous improvement model.
Assure this system accounts for, at minimum: Management commitment; Employee involvement; Hazard identification and assessment; Hazard prevention and control; Employee education and training; Program evaluation and improvement
Periodically evaluate the safety performance on field and project personnel and provide constructive feedback.
Uphold the highest level of accountability for the health and well-being of employees and the public, and for the interests of key stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of written programs that assure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and all other pertinent Federal/State/Local regulations, contract requirements, and internal policy.
Assure that worksites are regularly inspected for worker safety and legal compliance.
Develop Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) implementation plans when regulatory and/or systems deficiencies (or improvement opportunities) are identified.
Maintain a suitable inventory of PPE and safety equipment in the Region.
Follow protocol for the reporting, investigation, and recording of all workplace incidents.
Track all safety metrics (leading and lagging indicators) and report information as directed.
Enforce the Company Drug Free Workplace and Alcohol Policies including DOT.
Maintain working knowledge of DOT regulations and ensure full compliance.
Investigate all workplace accidents including near misses to determine the cause of the accident, providing a written report of the findings and making recommendations on how to prevent reoccurrence.
Develop and administer recognition systems to promote safe and healthful work performance, i.e. “Good Catch”.
Purchase, inspect, and distribute appropriate safety equipment.
Ensure JHA’s, field audits, daily equipment inspections, and safety meetings are being conducted.
Attend and help organize Quarterly Safety Meetings.
Assist in the reporting of contractor hours through ISN and to the appropriate contractor portals. Maintain contractor records through ISN.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related discipline, with
4 years’ in Safety and DOT Compliance, or
Associate’s degree in Health and Safety with 7 years’ related experience (or any equivalent combination of training/experience)
Valid driver’s license
Exceptional safety abilities, safety management and coordinating Safety and DOT compliance activities
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Time management skills, able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
Knowledge of construction principles and safety hazards of construction projects
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment and scheduling efficiencies
Excellent communication skills (written/verbal) and attention to detail
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
