The impact you will make in this role

In this role as Personal Safety Division’s Regulatory Engagement Coordinator for Asia, you will play a key role in advancing personal protective equipment (PPE) and occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, culture, and practice across many Asian countries. You will be part of a global team of OSH regulatory experts, supporting both the global cross-functional business units within Personal Safety Division and also the Asia area team. You will participate in high-impact regulatory and standard development activities, engaging with other OHS professionals and regulators internal and external to 3M as a thought leader in the industry.  In this role, you will be able to have a direct influence on PPE business results and assume a leadership role for regulatory activities.

  • Coaching and developing PSD’s application engineers across Asia

  • Facilitating development of science-based performance and selection and use standards related to PPE and OHS, and tracking and reporting status and key milestones

  • Helping advance occupational health and safety culture and practice across Asia

  • Coordinating PSD’s team of Asia application engineers in occupational health and safety standards development activities

  • Collaborating with professional associations, educational organization, public health organization and related government entities

  • Identifying key opportunities to advance respirator-related health and safety policy and regulations, developing strategies to help architect and realize science-based approaches to address these opportunities

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to align on PSD’s top-priority standards and regulations to help drive business growth

  • Collaborate with 3M’s Government Affairs organization to help advance PSD regulatory and policy initiatives

  • Collaborate with the global Personal Safety Division Regulatory Engagement team to ensure effective review of draft standards and revisions by internal technical experts

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Science,  Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university

  • Strong interpersonal skills and thought-leadership ability

  • Personal Protective Equipment knowledge mainly in respiratory protection, hearing protection, and fall protection

  • Good understanding of national and international occupational health and safety regulatory framework

  • Skilled presenter

  • Fluent in English

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Established reputation as a leading expert in occupational health and safety and strong rapport with regulatory agencies and officials in many countries in Asia

  • More than 5 years’ experience navigating or contributing to personal protective equipment standards and regulations development

  • Possess awareness-level understanding of test methods for PPE and its technologies.

  • Primary Location:
    Woodlands, Singapore or North Ryde, Australia

  • Travel: May include up to 40% international travel

  • Relocation: May be authorized
