We are searching for a Data Management Specialist to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is a full-time Guidehouse position, with the option for remote work, and it supports a team on the NIH Campus in Bethesda, MD.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for managing and organizing data to ensure accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Develop and implement data management strategies to maintain data accuracy.
  • Manage databases, and assist with data cleaning and organizing to ensure accurate entries and reporting. 
  • Monitor and address system alerts. 
  • Analyze, validate, and interpret data; update records and ensure data security. 
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues and optimize data management processes. Question and data address discrepancies.
  • Ensure data compliance with applicable regulations and provide data analysis support.
  • Generate and maintain a variety of reports used for briefings and presentations.
  • Assist with generating surveys and processing survey data. 


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Strong analytical skills and database management experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Experience in Scientific Data analysis and/or Statistical modeling preferred
  • Experience in Data visualization, Data analysis, and/or Data mining preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with Salesforce platform
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to work with technical teams and business users
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a project team


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of R, Python, and/or MySQL preferred
  • Generate clear, actionable documentation that enables self-guided execution
  • Maintain good working relationships with client stakeholders and staff to facilitate engagement services.
  • Exercise an educational background in data-centric fields such as analytics, data management, systems analysis, data processing and operations
  • Apply learnings from relevant professional certifications
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally

The annual salary range for this position is $87,100.00-$130,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
