The M43 Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 15-bed nursing unit that provides care to pediatric post-surgical patients, cardiac patients, general pediatrics overflow, transplant candidates and post-transplant patients. As an RN Resident on this unit, you will participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs and provide direct nursing care, alongside an experienced coach.
Caregivers in this role will find opportunities for growth and development, as they work in a very specialized field.
A caregiver in this role works rotating day and night shifts, from 7 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. -- 7:30 a.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care activities based on the following: acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability.
Initiate and/or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care for patients.
Respond to data indicating risk to individual's health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent the risk.
Seek supervision, consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
Comply with established hospital/department personnel policies.
Use communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
Document patient's medical record, according to established guidelines.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Assocation (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing
