Job Title: Haemato-oncology Medical Manager (MM)

Reports to: Oncology & Specialty Group Medical Manager

Job Purpose

The Haemato-Oncology Medical Manager (MM) is primarily an office-based role responsible for managing the product lifecycle from the pre-authorization phase through local registration, launch, and post-launch stages. This involves the development and implementation of medical plans and scientific activities to facilitate patient access to GSK brands and establish scientific leadership. The MM will build a deep understanding of our compounds and develop relationships with key external experts (EEs). The role requires collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and drive local operating company (LOC) strategies, ensuring a thorough understanding of the scientific value of our products and their appropriate use to meet patients' needs through optimal use of available evidence, medical education, and access initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

The MM is expected to spend at least 30% of his/her time externally to gather insights about GSK compounds, medical unmet needs, competitive landscape, etc, and execute plans. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the brand lifecycle (pre-authorization, authorization, pre-launch, launch, post-launch).
  • Developing and executing brand medical affairs plans.
  • Identifying evidence gaps and working with the above-country team to address them.
  • Supporting patient access to GSK brands.
  • Providing product and disease area information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending local and international congresses and disseminating updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensuring strategic alignment cross functionally.
  • Ensuring full compliance with GSK Code, SOPs, and local laws and regulations.
  • Providing medical training to EEs and speakers.
  • Representing GSK at non-promotional meetings.
  • Collecting insights and responding to medical information queries.
  • Engaging in non-promotional discussions with EEs, payers, government, and formularies.
  • Driving EE education journey using GSK tools (e.g., AKU, ADOpT, mVOC, mD2i).

Internal Client Group:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement an effective Medical Affairs plan.
  • Partner with commercial to develop country-specific strategic and medical plans to provide scientific support for GSK internal stakeholder.
  • Provide medical insights to commercial colleagues based on patient needs and HCP feedback.
  • Deliver scientific training and updates to stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify and develop TA EEs lists and brand value propositions.

External Customer Base:

General

  • Uphold GSK’s values: Ambitious for patients, Accountable for impact, and Do the Right Thing in all interactions and exchanges of information between GSK and external communities.
  • Develop and implement medical plans in conjunction with the GMM/CMD and internal stakeholders.

KEEs Interactions

  • Lead and execute scientific activities to establish scientific leadership with Key EEs.
  • Deliver medical education and respond to medical information queries.
  • Support clinical development by nominating investigators and facilitating GSK clinical trials.
  • Record and share EEs insights in a timely manner.

Medical Information:

  • Respond to unsolicited requests for on- or off-label information or safety concerns from HCPs in a timely and accurate manner, documenting these responses in the Medical Information system.
  • Ensure alignment with GSK ways of working regarding systems, documentation, and archiving of medical information queries.

Medical Governance:

  • Act as a medical governance champion within the medical and commercial teams, ensuring awareness and implementation of relevant SOPs in all activities.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to facilitate increased scientific share of voice and deliver effective engagements that address identified medical and educational needs.
  • Stay updated and operate within relevant Codes of Conduct and SOPs.
  • Work proactively with EEs to ensure understanding of GSK ways of working.

Complexity:

  • Abide by the medical capability model skills level.
  • Comfortable working across boundaries in a matrix organization across functions, geographies, and cultures.
  • Individual contributor with medium to high job complexity and a high level of autonomy and accountability.
  • Requires appropriate knowledge of the therapeutic area and experience in the Saudi market.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must have Medical Degree or Pharmaceutical degree.
  • Must have at least 2-years’ experience as a Medical Manager.
  • Must have at least 5-years’ experience within the haematological malignancies therapy areas.
  • Must have a valid license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • High level of medical expert knowledge in Multiple Myeloma is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with high ability to effectively deliver messages & successfully establish relations with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in the preparation & delivery of effective scientific presentations with good public speaking skills in front of the medical audience (speaking at scientific educational events, congresses;)
  • Ability to analyse, represent and discuss scientific data in the therapeutic area with external and internal partners.
  • High level of discipline, ability to organize the activity and to reasonably use the working time within the established independence limits.
  • Developed skills in business planning, business orientation and working under the dynamically changing conditions,
  • Fluent in professional English language. Arabic language is an advantage.
  • Postgraduate study in the relevant TA and or Business degree is an advantage.
