Our global Pack is made up of people who thrive on solving hard problems, moving fast, and building technology that protects organizations around the world. We’re proud to be recognized by Forbes, CNBC, Fortune, CRN, Gartner Peer Insights and IDC MarketScape – but what matters most is the work behind it: delivering real outcomes for customers through award winning innovation like our Aurora Platform.

If you’re looking for meaningful work, smart teammates and the chance to make a real impact in a high-growth company that’s redefining security operations, Arctic Wolf is the right place for you!

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Principal AppSec Architect to be part of making this happen.

Position Overview and Objective

At Arctic Wolf, we are transforming our Application Security function to be AI-first, fundamentally changing how security work is executed and scaled across the organization. We are looking for a Principal Application Security Architect to lead this shift and reimagine how AppSec operates through AI, automation, and modern engineering practices.

In this role, you will define how AI is applied to security problems across threat modeling, vulnerability management, and security analysis. You will not only evaluate AI-driven systems but also help design and operationalize them as core capabilities of the AppSec program.
You will operate at the intersection of security, engineering, and platform strategy, shaping architecture decisions and influencing how teams build secure systems. This role requires deep Application Security expertise combined with the ability to design scalable, AI-enabled security capabilities that materially improve how security is delivered.

Responsibilities

You will excel in this role if you are:

  • Lead the evolution of AppSec toward an AI-first operating model, defining how AI and automation are embedded into security workflows

  • Design and build AI-driven capabilities to scale AppSec functions such as threat modeling, vulnerability management, and security analysis

  • Define and drive adoption of application security standards and secure development practices across the organization

  • Shape secure architecture and influence design decisions across multiple product lines.

  • Lead threat modeling efforts for complex systems and ensure risks are identified and addressed early in the development lifecycle

  • Establish and evolve automated security testing practices (e.g., SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets detection) to improve coverage, signal quality, and developer adoption

  • Evaluate and secure AI and ML systems, including risks in model behavior, data flows, and AI agent or tool-based application design

  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to drive risk-informed security decisions aligned with business priorities

  • Lead strategic initiatives that address systemic and cross-organizational security risks

  • Mentor engineers and help shape the technical direction and evolution of the AppSec function

  • Define metrics and continuously improve security outcomes, effectiveness, and engineering adoption

Experience and Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in Application Security, Product Security, Software Engineering, or related fields operating at a senior, staff, or principal level
  • Strong foundation in secure software design, threat modeling, and vulnerability management
  • Ability to assess risk in modern architectures, including cloud-native and AI-driven systems
  • Hands-on experience building AI-driven or automated solutions to scale security capabilities
  • A thought leader who can influence across organizations
  • Strong judgment and the ability to balance security, usability, and business priorities
  • Effective communicator who can influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Track record of mentoring and developing engineers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading security reviews or threat modeling of AI-driven applications
  • Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and developer platforms at scale
  • Experience building or deploying AI or agent-based systems
  • Software engineering background with hands-on development experience
  • Experience in large-scale or complex engineering environments

On-Camera Policy

To support a fair, transparent, and engaging interview experience, candidates interviewing remotely are expected to be on camera during all video interviews. Being on camera fosters authentic connection, improves communication, and allows for full engagement from both candidates and interviewers. We understand that technical, bandwidth, or location-related challenges may occasionally prevent video use. If this applies, candidates are required to notify us in advance so we can explore appropriate accommodations.
