Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality inspection of fabricated components, painted components, sub-assemble components, and partially or fully assembled machines.
  • Inspect welds for conformance in structural integrity, dimensions, appearance, and other specification requirements.
  • Purchase, configure and perform testing torque tools. Rebuilding pneumatic tools and maintaining gauges.
  • Inspect of parts to Caterpillar prints and specifications, control of non- conforming material. Collaborate with SQE to create detailed rejections to suppliers with emphasis on SAP computer system tasks.
  • Measure component dimensions and interpret results for conformance versus drawing requirements.
  • Communicate inspection results to operations department colleagues.  Provide feedback in a constructive and diplomatic fashion.
  • Create detailed records of defects with part numbers, written descriptions, and photographs documented in the Caterpillar All Quality Events (AQE) database.  Contribute to investigation of cause and identification of corrective action for quality issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field of engineering study (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, chemical)
  • English communication (ability to communicate with global audit team and expat team)
     

Top Candidate Will Have:

  • Experienced reading engineering drawings. Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance is also desirable.
  • Visual Inspection Testing Certification LV.2
  • Microsoft Excel is highly desirable (Pivot Table & Vlookup & basic excel formulas).  Ability to use vis view software to open and view CAD models of assemblies is highly desirable.  Experience using online Caterpillar drawings (in EPIX or HVC) and 1E Specifications (in REDI) is also highly desirable.
  • Experienced in use of manual measurement devices (calipers, gauges, micrometers) highly desirable.
  • Understanding and experience with the root cause and corrective action in any of these areas (RCCA, 6Sigma, 8D, PDCA) issue resolution process is highly desirable.
  • Understand lean process
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers and customers.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and PowerApp is highly desirable
