The Opportunity
This position works out of our Mexico City, Tlalpan location in the AVD Division. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
As theTherapy Development Specialist, you’ll have a thorough understanding of the customer, their needs, and the evolving marketplace to ensure sales and clinical representatives are effective in selling to and supporting our customers with Abbott AV technology. They will be instrumental in ensuring the field organization is prepared to not only engage customers on the features and clinical elements of our products but also the economic aspects of our technologies when applicable. Responsible for responding to technical inquiries.
What You’ll Do
- Demonstrates depth of knowledge and skill in Coronary and Endovascular-related Disease State & Vascular Products.
- Accountable for developing, implementing, and executing of training plans, curricula, and materials to facilitate product or therapy training to Abbott/Distributor field sales members and internal support teams.
- Conducts and/or support all training sessions, live or virtual, leveraging appropriate technology, learning techniques and different modalities to enhance individuals’ knowledge and certification
- Educate and certify the Field Representative by supporting a minimum established number of cases per therapy.
- Provide additional case proctoring until representative is fully capable and confident to manage cases and complete the Solo sign off per the competency checklist.
- Leads cross-functional teams/groups, to develop and/or implement new training programs or enhance existing programs(s) or product training activities
- Mentors employees by sharing clinical and technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance.
- Help facilitate all property logistics associated with training programs and training initiatives both on and off campus.
- Document progress and manage all training and certification records.
- Evaluate sales field training needs leveraging current training practices and technology
- Communicate performance successes and gaps to the management team.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive clinical and technical product knowledge.
- Understands current published and relevant literature.
- Recognize and understand competitive products, industry trends, and Vascular portfolio
- Become a recognized patient advocate and therapy champion.
- Upon request, work with the Professional Education team to advise on content and provide key insights to international needs
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Nursering or equivalent.
- Equivalent or Similar combination of education and work experience in the field with sales skills.
- Minimum 6 years on industry or training Management.
- Experience in Cardiovascular and/or Endovascular Therapy area preferred.
- Ability to apply the fundamental concepts and practices to conduct needs assessment and design learning programs.
- Understanding and expertise in the Technical & Sales aspects and application of current and new products in Therapy area driving to the different stakeholders needs.
- Affinity for educating others.
- English and Spanish languages are mandatory. Portuguese is optional.

- Excellent computer and software skills (experience with Microsoft Office, word-processing, databases, authoring programs, etc., to develop presentation materials.

- Ability to travel approximately 70%, including internationally.
