What is the opportunity?
This is an opportunity to become a valued contributor to a high-performing team that strategically supports a business that is transforming.
In this role, you will support the ideation, development and execution of both internal and external communication strategies for RBC Insurance. There will be a strong focus on external media relations and increasing the visibility of the executive team across the enterprise and externally. Working with a team of seasoned communicators and your peers, you will provide communications advice and counsel that will support enhancing and protecting RBC Insurance’s reputation in the industry. You will help to drive effective communications and storytelling to advance RBC Insurance’s business objectives and strategies both internally and externally while ensuring alignment to RBC’s overall enterprise priorities.
What will you do?
Support the development and execution of both internal and external communications strategies that support the business objectives of RBC Insurance.
Co-lead RBC Insurance’s media relations strategy, working with members of our team and our agency partner to maintain a strong focus on the Canadian media landscape and provide media pitch ideas to enhance and increase RBC Insurance’s share of voice in a very competitive industry.
Support our roster of media spokespeople to deliver relatable and compelling stories that help dispel the complexity of Insurance products.
Execute on high-impact internal communications activities including our all employee town halls and leadership forums.
Be an active content contributor to RBC Insurance’s internal communications channels including our employee newsletter, email bulletins, television screens and digital messaging platforms.
Help support RBC Insurance’s execution of enterprise strategies including but not limited to RBC’s Blueprint.
Lead the communications support activities for RBC Insurance across all lines of business, including the distribution of internal communications including talent announcements, leaders’ memos, internal surveys and results reports as needed.
Work in partnership with the senior members of our team to support members of the executive team as required.
Support Purpose driven communications and storytelling related to our RBC Blueprint in addition to supporting strategic recognition days and providing ongoing support to the RBCI Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council.
Responsible for measuring successes and tracking metrics for internal communications including employee communications, email bulletins, townhall attendance, post-event surveys, and story readership.
Support our agency partner to deliver impactful external metrics tracking and reports.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
University degree and/or other post-secondary education (or equivalent experience)
Communications professional with minimum 2+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably in the insurance industry / financial services
Extensive experience providing strategic advice to senior executives, including issues and change management experience
Ability to facilitate between and influence executives and key decision makers
Ability to meet consistently high standards of quality while managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Nice-to-have
Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork
Exceptional writing and organizational skills
Technical understanding and financial services literacy
Video, design and event management expertise
