Team/Role Overview:

Global Legal Solutions (GLS) is dedicated to providing Citi’s Global Legal function with the operational support necessary to fulfill its mission of delivering innovative solutions and services for Citi’s Global Legal Department.  GLS is a team of diverse individuals located around the world possessing a variety of legal, financial, technological and operational skills and experience. The group manages strategic law firm relationships; partners with Operations and Technology to provide the legal technology infrastructure needed to manage legal matters and mitigate risk; and provide financial discipline and business intelligence used to manage legal spend.

Legal program Services (LPS), within GLS, support Citi Global Legal function with delivery of complex, critical, large regulatory, strategic re-platforming and risk & control initiatives spanning multiple business lines that have an underpinning Legal component. The team leverage support from legal & country legal teams to ensure advice and assistance is provided to the appropriate initiatives in a timely manner. The portfolio is divided in to 3 sub-portfolios: Regulatory Remediation, Business Mandatory and Process Management & Improvement. 

A senior project manager is required to support Legal for various regulatory, business mandatory and strategic initiatives. The individual will lead multiple workstreams, analysing processes, collating information from cross business lines, providing options and presenting recommendations to a range of business problems. From a project management perspective, the individual will help formulate plans, track deliverables and assist in preparation of material for various governance forums as well as manage key stakeholders in and outside of the Legal Department.  This individual will work closely with Legal product lawyers, business implementation teams, central project management teams, technology, legal data and external legal counsel to ensure the timely delivery of the respective initiatives. 

What you’ll do

The individual will have responsibility for one or more regulatory / business mandatory / strategic initiatives:

  • Set-up and manage multiple projects
  • Ensure terms of references are agreed with all stakeholders and appropriate governance & control structures are in place
  • Establish roles & responsibilities outlined as part of the terms of reference
  • Develop, track and maintain project plans, including the provision of regular and accurate status reports
  • Estimates budget, timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project to agreed scope and constraints.
  • Liaise with members of Consent Order Working Groups and other relevant teams to ensure the project plans and action items are up to date and published to stakeholders
  • Act as the key point of contact for all project matters leveraging Legal Subject Matter Experts, and lawyers as appropriate.
  • Manage & coach a direct (or matrix) team of business analysts/project managers providing direction and guidance to achieve project objectives.
  • Manage business analysts, project managers, consultants, contractors and vendor teams as required, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure success
  • Manage project team conflicts, build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders as well as make timely decisions.
  • Manage project risk, issues, assumptions and dependencies with a strong focus on ensuring there are clear owners and resolution dates
  • Perform necessary review & challenge sessions regularly across the project portfolio to ensure key business objectives are met.
  • Managing scope creep, conduct impact analysis for changes and communicate changes, enhancements, and modification of deliverables verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, vendor teams, sponsors, Citi’s central regulatory coordination team and other stakeholders so that impact of change, issues and solutions are understood
  • Participate in vendor/technology selections, demonstrations, testing, quality reviews.
  • Mapping ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ business states, identifying opportunities for improvement, options for change, modelling different scenarios, analysing impacts of change, analyse solutions and summarise options & recommendations
  • Support in development of test plans, coordinate/lead user acceptance testing (UAT) by creating test plans, test scripts, providing training, track progress and coordinate with relevant teams on the necessary fixes/enhancements prior to sign-off and implementation

What we’ll need from you

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Project management/business analysis experience
  • Experience in Banking & Capital Markets (or consultancy)
  • Experience of client outreach and/or legal projects highly beneficial
  • Exposure to Legal and Compliance highly beneficial
  • Significant people/team management experience.
  • Significant experience of managing large scale, complex and projects
  • Deep experience of financial markets in at least one domain e.g., Loans, Derivatives, Securities
  • Experience in developing comprehensive project plans ideally in Microsoft Project
  • Managing vendor staff, consultants as well as non-direct reports (influencing wider stakeholders to deliver to project goals)

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – including good verbal and written communication, presentation skills and the ability to lead and facilitate meetings and workshops with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills, being able to diagnose root cause of issues
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Visio skills with ability to create business focused presentations and clear process flows.
  • Strong time management skills; efficient at multi-tasking and able to work under pressure to deliver multiple business demands on-time, to a high standard.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, ability to analyze data using Excel including pivot tables, macros and functions.
