The Technical and Operational Manager is overall responsible for the Safety, Quality, Operational and Technical performance throughout the Svitzer Brazil fleet, for shore and sea staff. All of the tasks need to be executed in a cost-effective manner, which have an end goal of providing a safe and reliable service proposition to our customers, and which support the General Manager’s and Svitzer Brazil KPIs.

The Technical and Operational Manager  main duties include:
Provide day-to-day management and leadership to all Brazil technical and operational staff.

Establishing safety as the main priority in regional operations to deliver on preventative actions aiming at zero incidents.
Maintain Svitzer quality program, Harmonized Management System and ensure vessels’ use of same as per company guidelines.
Oversight and management of all technical department’s functions including preparation and execution of planned and unplanned dry docks, repairs and implementations.
Overall responsible for towage operations/service delivery and provide guidance to sea staff regarding same.
Monitoring of operational expenditures to ensure alignment with budgets.
Participate in meetings with clients and maritime stakeholders as needed.
Identify, reduce, and monitor the risks which can threaten the safety and sustainability of crew and operations.
Provide timely reports as required, outlining key operational, safety, and technical developments.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (local, national, flag state), for existing and new vessels.

A strong network in the Brazilian ports community and stakeholders such as Navy, Pilots and Port Authorities is an advantage


Required/Preferred Education  
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering (Marine Engineering preferred).

Training and competencies
7-10 years of maritime-related experience (towage or offshore preferred).
Good oral and written English.
Appreciation for and ability to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
Good leadership and interpersonal skills. Prepared to make a difference and wear different hats in a small team.
Self-starter and ability to multi-task.
Able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner.
Ability to work in a global business environment with a strong sense of cultural diversity.
Flexibility to travel for short periods of time if required.
