Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains, modifies, and builds as needed, non-high-profile ticketed events in a computerized ticketing environment.
  • Establishes a positive sales culture for the box office through the hiring, training, coaching and mentorship of box office student workers and assists in job functions as needed.
  • Sets performance goals and conducts staff evaluations based on those goals (training, 90-days, annual), if applicable.
  • Oversees creation of staff work schedules and ensures proper staffing based on Arena schedules.
  • Monitors and maintains all ticketing computers and hardware.
  • Responsible for the accurate accounting and reconciliation of daily cash receipts and ticket sales for each ticketed event including checking-out and balancing procedures for each staff’s cash drawer.
  • Assists in facilitating and fulfilling group ticket orders and sales through promo codes and email/phone communication.
  • Completes and distributes accurate daily ticket counts.
  • Monitors box office supplies and currency denominations ensuring that operations run seamlessly day to day.
  • Organizes nightly Will Call tickets.
  • Manages box office phone, email, and text systems and ensures all phone menus and calendars of events are current and accurate.
  • Manages athletic request lists for home and visiting teams, which includes the delivery/distribution of tickets as well as documentation and requested reports.
  • Assists, when necessary, with off-site athletic event ticket distribution.
  • Assists in creating marketing strategies and communicating marketing efforts to part-time student worker staff.
  • Lead a team to complete outbound customer service calls, tracking season ticket holder experience, as well as tracking anticipated attendance for future games.
  • Always maintains superior customer service both in person and over the phones, ensuring Grand Canyon University is professionally represented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Basic computer skills including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Skill in computerized ticketing operations and systems.
  • Good problem-solving skills, sound judgment and conflict resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of Box Office, or similar, operations including accounting/cash management procedures.
  • Entry level knowledge of Music Hall/Restaurant/Retail/Theatre operations and Point of Sales systems.
  • Ability to cope with changing priorities and work effectively while under stress.
  • Ability to lead staff in an effective and positive manner
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which includes weekends, holidays, evenings and/or early mornings as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for all box office staff, guest services staff, and grad assistants.

Experience/ Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, communications, public relations, event promotion or marketing or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 year ticketing, event promotions, sales or other similarly related work experience and leadership role.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant work experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be substituted upon supervisor’s approval.
  • Must successfully pass background checks.
