At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner—and every person here makes that happen. You’ll be empowered to lead, supported to grow, and proud of the impact we create together. Join us and help run what runs the world.
This position reports to:
Local Division Manager ELSE Belgium__
Your role
At ABB, buying isn’t just about placing orders — it’s about engineering availability, reliability, and pace. As a Buyer, you secure the direct and indirect materials and services that keep our projects moving, our customers confident, and our teams ready to deliver.
Every negotiation you lead, every supplier you onboard, and every order you optimize strengthens our ability to outrun expectations in the Electrification ecosystem.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of the purchasing process — securing materials and services according to technical specifications, price expectations, delivery schedules, and contractual requirements. Each day, you will ensure that all purchasing activities comply with ABB’s corporate policies and procedures. You will also contribute to sourcing strategies by identifying and qualifying new suppliers in collaboration with the relevant category team.
Your main stakeholders include: (Service) Project Managers; Tender Engineers; Operations and Field Service teams; Finance; Suppliers and subcontractors
This role contributes to the Electrification Service Division in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Your responsibilities
Initiate Purchase Orders with precision and pace, ensuring alignment with specifications, procedures, and delivery needs.
Secure supplier commitment by confirming deliveries, tracking performance, and intervening early when risks appear.
Lead negotiations that create advantage — from pricing to terms and conditions — always pushing for value, reliability, and sustainability.
Recommend and execute frame agreements that give our teams the speed and flexibility to win.
Analyze and evaluate bids to determine the best total value, not just the lowest price.
Partner with category teams to identify and qualify new suppliers who help us move faster and deliver better.
Seek out opportunities to optimize cost, reduce risk, and simplify processes — because great supply chains don’t stand still.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience in procurement, supply chain, business administration, industrial engineering, or similar.
Proven experience in purchasing or supply chain within an industrial or technical environment.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage complexity.
Solid understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract principles.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP or equivalent) and MS Office.
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Fluent in Dutch, French, and English, with a continuous improvement mindset.
What's in it for you?
We empower you to take initiative, challenge ideas, and lead with confidence. You’ll grow through meaningful work, continuous learning, and support that’s tailored to your goals. Every idea you share and every action you take contributes to something bigger.
We offer:
A competitive and future ready salary package
Meal vouchers and expense reimbursement
32 days of paid leave (20 legal + 12 ADV)
Hospitalization, group, and pension insurance
Hybrid work setup — home, suppliers, or The Wings, our new Diegem headquarters
Trust, flexibility, autonomy — and the chance to own your success stories
