Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility of this role is to lead the Global Virtual Product Development (VPD) Organization.
  • Managing the development, validation, deployment and execution of integrated simulation tools, processes and systems for Caterpillar.
  • Championing the Enterprise Simulation Strategy and the VPD Technology Strategy with enterprise leadership and facilitating the Enterprise Simulation Leaders.
  • Ensuring the VPD division within ICS is a valued partner and provider of simulation expertise to Caterpillar's product development and research programs.
  • Managing the overall business of high-performance computing and the simulation software resources used by the enterprise.
  • Supervising, recruiting, mentoring and developing a staff of over 300 Caterpillar engineers in the US and India in multiple simulation disciplines.  Role has direct reports in the US and India.
  • Executing day to day management activities aligned with strategy and business plan, including ownership of internal and external partner relationships.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 15 years of product development experience.
  • 10 years supervisory experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in a global team.
  • Proven understanding of how simulation is used within product development.

Top candidates will also have:

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to influence.
  • Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization.
  • Ability to understand both technology and business domains.
  • Strong communication skills in particular, proven ability to communicate with a wide breadth of technical audiences, including global technology partners, internally and externally.
  • Cross functional and cross business unit experience.
  • Exceptional skills in managing a global execution team.
