Role Summary

As a Senior CNC Grinder Machinist, you will set up, program, and operate Studer CNC grinding equipment to produce extremely tight-tolerance components. This role supports one of the most critical machining work centers in the shop and is intended for a highly experienced machinist, not an entry-level operator. The ideal candidate brings hands-on programming experience, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to independently hold precision tolerances with minimal supervision.

This is a 1st shift position Monday-Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Studer CNC grinders for ID, OD, face, and grooving operations
  • Create, edit, and prove out programs directly at the machine using Fanuc controls
  • Perform complex setups including chuck jaw changes, magnetic chuck applications, and wheel dressing
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and job specifications to achieve extremely tight tolerances
  • Use advanced precision gauging and inspection techniques, including first article inspection
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and material issues to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and follow all safety and compliance standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members, trainers, and leadership

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment
  • CNC grinding experience (Studer strongly preferred)
  • Experience holding tight tolerances on precision components
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Proficient use of precision measuring instruments
  • Hands-on Fanuc control experience
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Manual programming experience using G & M codes
  • Engine lathe experience
  • Experience with program prove-out and first article inspections
  • Background in toolroom or high-precision machining environments
