Job Summary & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Program Management has full ownership of program execution for development and engineering initiatives, delivering innovative lithography systems and modules for advanced semiconductor packaging at the micrometer scale.

This role is based in the Netherlands and serves as a critical bridge between the local engineering organization and Onto’s global engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service teams.

Operating in close partnership with peer leaders at Onto’s headquarters in Wilmington, MA (USA), the Senior Manager, Program Management drives cross-site alignment, execution discipline, and delivery against technical, schedule, and business objectives.

As a key member of the local management team, this role also provides direct leadership to a small multidisciplinary team responsible for essential operational support functions, including purchasing and logistics, facilities, and a chemical support laboratory. The chemical support lab plays an important role in demonstration and qualification of system performance for both engineering development and customer-facing sales engagements.

This is a highly visible leadership position requiring strong program ownership, organizational excellence, and the ability to build effective global teams. Success in this role depends on decisive leadership, accountability, and the ability to drive results—this is not a coordination role, but an ownership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary on‑site owner for program and project execution, ensuring alignment across technical, operational, and business objectives
  • Lead development programs across the Onto Product Life Cycle (O‑PLC), from feasibility and concept phases through beta execution; where applicable, manage an effective handover to manufacturing‑ or customer‑site program owners
  • Drive product improvement projects from project intake to realization
  • Work closely with cross‑functional and cross‑site teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Support, to deliver programs on time and to specification
  • Plan, forecast, and track program expenses and material requirements, maintaining strong cost and resource control
  • Manage external development partners and suppliers, ensuring delivery within agreed quality, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Line‑manage a small team of specialists responsible for local purchasing and logistics, facilities management, and the chemical support laboratory, continuously improving processes and capacity in line with organizational growth
  • Collaborate with global peers to further develop Onto’s program management practices, and tools

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in project and/or program management roles, including experience within a high-tech systems or capital equipment environment
  • Demonstrated track record of owning end-to-end project or program execution, from planning through delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across time zones, cultures, and organizational boundaries
  • Hands‑on leadership style, combining strong organizational and execution
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
