About the unit 

At Corewell Health Sleep Medicine, we do more than test for sleep disorders. Our physicians provide ongoing assessment, treatment, and monitoring for sleep disorders in children and adults. Among the sleep disorders we treat are insomnia, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea and narcolepsy. Our services include: Behavioral sleep medicine, Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, Consultations for apnea, movement disorders, excessive sleepiness and sleep behaviors, CPAP / BiPAP titration sleep study for obstructive sleep apnea, Maintenance of wakefulness test, MWT, for commercial drivers and FAA licenses, Multiple sleep latency test, MLST, to measure the speed of falling asleep, and Polysomnogram

About Outpatient Clinics 

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area. 

Scope of work 

Provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the promotion of good sleep. Performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties.

Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • CRT – Polysomnographic Technologist BRPT Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
