Job Summary :

Office hours:
8am-8pm Monday through Friday
830am-430pm on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

To provide guidelines based on the ANA Code of Ethics (1), Indiana Nurse Practice Act (2), Nursing Practice Standards for the Licensed Practical Nurse (3), and other regulatory agencies by which the LPN provides patient care. The LPN will assume responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or
physician/Medical Director in the office or school setting and follow established Standards of Care and Practice.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities: 

1. Fiscal

a. efficiently use supplies and equipment

b. complete assignments and duties in a timely manner leave shift on time and utilize time keeping system

c. demonstrate productivity and accept EDO and float assignments

d. fill out appropriate work orders and support department goals to eliminate waste

2. Quality

a. apply unit-specific knowledge to patients with medical and nursing care needs per protocol, participate and appropriately document per specific standards, and remain up to date with policy changes

b. possess ability to problem solve and to multitask within their scope of

practice and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions in relation to expected outcomes

c. offer suggestions to improve work flow and patient experience

d. accept delegation of tasks appropriately

e. engage in teamwork and participate in Quality and peer review.

3. Patient Satisfaction

a. promote patient satisfaction as exemplified by patient recognition, letters from patients and families, or SEA(Service Excellence Award)

b. timely response to patient needs

c. practice professional use of personal electronic devices in patient care areas and keep noise to a minimum at all times

d. exemplify excellent guest relations to patients, family members, and visitors

e. purposeful patient rounding/monitoring

4. Patient Safety

a. practice safe patient mobilization and incorporate fall prevention

interventions

b. practice safe medication administration, use 2 patient identifiers with all tasks and point of care testing

c. utilize the event management system to report each unusual occurrence

d. adjust care routines to meet the individual patient needs

e. adhere to HIPAA and follow social media policy

5. Professional Growth

a. shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others including orientation and cross-training

b. demonstrates leadership and be a resource for peers, be an active council member, be a super user

c. identifies professional needs and collaborates with management for learning opportunities for self and for the unit

d. participates in development and implementation of departmental goals

Education and Experience Required: 

1. Graduate of accredited Practical or Vocational Nurse Program.

2. Proficient computer skills required.

3. Basic Life Support provider.

Mandatory Licensure/Certifications: 

A valid, current Indiana license as a Licensed Practical Nurse through the Indiana State Board of Nursing and Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.
