📐 About this role

WRITER is looking for an end-to-end product designer who can help define the future of enterprise AI. You'll be a key design partner instrumental in shaping our product vision and establishing design excellence as we scale. This is the perfect role for a seasoned designer who is ready to make high-impact decisions and drive product strategy. WRITER is experiencing an incredible market moment as generative AI has taken the world by storm. Our team is distributed, but we do require overlap with PST time zone.

This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco or New York City hubs, reporting to the director of product design.

🦸‍♀️ Who you are

• You're a visually-focused senior designer with exceptional taste, a keen eye for aesthetics, details, and pixel perfection that elevates every product you touch

• You feel comfortable designing complex desktop experiences from the ground up and leading design system evolution—you know when to push boundaries and when to use established patterns

• You are passionate about building great user experiences at scale and keeping teams centered on the user throughout research, design and implementation—all while balancing business objectives, technical constraints, and strategic product goals

• You are ready to take ownership of complex product areas and thrive in ambiguity; you're a fast learner who can navigate uncharted territory in AI product design

• You love collaborating with and influencing passionate cross-functional partners, from engineers to product leaders to executives

• You're intentional about your design decisions, articulate your rationale clearly and compellingly, and can defend your vision to stakeholders at all levels

• You have a portfolio showcasing beautifully crafted, shipped desktop experiences that demonstrate both visual craft and strategic product thinking

🚀 What you'll do

• Own the design of high-impact WRITER product areas, including:

  • Driving user research and synthesizing insights to inform design decisions in collaboration with product partners

  • Translating complex AI capabilities and business objectives into intuitive, delightful designs that help enterprise customers succeed

  • Prototyping and testing solutions at varying fidelities to validate design direction before development

  • Defining and building design system components and patterns from scratch, establishing standards that scale across the product

• Own end-to-end design for major product initiatives, from early exploration through launch and rapid iteration

• Shape the product roadmap by partnering closely with cross-functional leaders and advocating for user needs

• Gather feedback from customers and internal teams to continuously improve shipped experiences

• Help level up the design process, quality, tooling, and culture at WRITER as the team grows

⭐️ You have

• 5+ years of experience working as a UX/UI or product designer, with a strong track record of shipping impactful products

• Demonstrated ability to work on technical or B2B SaaS products, with bonus points for AI/ML product experience

• A portfolio that showcases your strategic thinking, design process, visual craft, and shipped desktop experiences that drove business results

• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills—you've successfully influenced product decisions and partnered with engineering on complex projects
