What you'll be doing

As the Consultant, Commercial Banking Applications, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and managing a portfolio of business-critical applications used by Commercial Banking and Operations teams mainly for lending, pricing, billing, reporting and related activities. This is a business-focused role, requiring a deep understanding of Commercial Banking and the ability to translate business needs into effective application solutions. In this role you will act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, leveraging subject matter expertise to identify opportunities for application improvements that enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and deliver superior user experience. You will also lead the implementation of business-driven changes, ensuring alignment with CIBC’s standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

How you'll succeed

  • Leading Business-Driven Application Changes Lead projects to implement application changes, prepare project communication and presentation materials,  collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute testing scenarios as well as support investigations and the resolution of issues found during testing.

  • Driving Application Risk Management and Cost Efficiency Support risk management and cost optimization initiatives for key applications, ensuring robust controls, successful audits, and ongoing monitoring.

  • Understanding Business RequirementsWork with Technology and business partners to gather and interpret complex business requirements. Work with Technology partners to resolve issues raised by business stakeholders.

  • Overseeing Applications – Manage backlogs, control user access, prepare reports, monitor shared mailboxes, and address inquiries for key Commercial Banking applications.

  • Project Management Support – Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and scheduling within the team. Use independent judgment and provide clear guidance to project teams, drawing on a comprehensive understanding of Commercial Banking.

Who you are

  • You have a degree/diploma in Business, and/or a related field, and you’ve spent at least 3 years in a business role leading projects. It’s an asset if you have experience with Agile methodologies, and technology implementation.

  • You can demonstrate experience with Commercial Banking’s products and services, structure and operations. It would be an asset to have a solid understanding of financial product concepts and calculations (e.g. loan amortization, accrued income, expected income, yields).

  • You embrace and advocate for change. You are proficient in defining business requirements and resolving organizational challenges using appropriate tools and methods.

  • You're motivated by collective success. You have strong project management skills, including project plan development, budgeting and scheduling.
