We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Marsh. This role will be based in Kansas City. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
The Team Leader is a seasoned people manager based in Kansas City who guides develops, and manages account management professionals across multiple lines of coverage within a “One Broker” model. The Team Leader ensures exceptional client service, operational excellence, and alignment with organizational goals; fosters collaboration; implements process improvements; and promotes technical expertise to support complex insurance placements, client retention, and business growth. This role supports the Senior Team Leader, and is a manager of approximately 10-12 account managers while also managing a small number of complex clients.
We will count on you to:
Lead, mentor, and develop account managers across multiple lines of insurance by setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular reviews, and supporting ongoing professional growth and cross-training.
Promote knowledge sharing, continuous education, and cross-functional training to build technical depth and resilience within the team.
Oversee daily operations for insurance placement and client account management, ensuring adherence to best practices, data accuracy, and regulatory and internal policy compliance.
Manage a small portfolio of complex client accounts, acting as escalation point for client or market issues and ensuring timely renewals, contract execution, and procedural compliance.
Drive strategic initiatives to improve workflow efficiency, client satisfaction, and operational metrics; monitor KPIs and apply data-driven insights to prioritize improvements.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, underwriters, and internal partners; collaborate on growth and retention strategies to support sales goals.
Monitor market trends, underwriting practices, and regulatory changes across insurance classes; translate market intelligence into actionable guidance for clients and the team.
Foster a culture of accountability, commercial excellence, and integrity while collaborating with product leaders, sales, underwriting, legal, and technology teams to standardize processes and adopt workflow/placement tools.
What you need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related field, with 5–7 years’ experience in insurance brokerage, placement, or risk management covering Property, Casualty, and Executive Protection (FINPRO).
At least 1 year of experience managing teams and complex client accounts, including implementing strategic initiatives.
Broad placement knowledge across multiple lines of business and proven ability to support large-scale operational strategies that improve efficiency and client satisfaction.
Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis, process improvement, and a consistent client-focused approach to enhance the client experience.
