POSITION SUMMARY

The Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the school. The incumbent is to make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities. The Lecturer will develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs. The Lecturer will have an important research leadership role in embedding their research expertise into the life of the school and will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across RMIT and with local, national and global, internal and external partners. The Lecturer may have responsibility for program management.

Key Accountabilities summary

  • Deliver high-quality teaching in Finance, including course design, delivery, assessment, and moderation at undergraduate level.
  • Create meaningful impact through teaching and scholarship, continuously improving learning and assessment based on student feedback and course evaluation insights.
  • Lead as a Course Coordinator, overseeing curriculum design, assessment development, marking/moderation, and ensuring alignment with program outcomes, accreditation, and university standards.
  • Drive research excellence with national recognition, leading research teams and projects, publishing in high-quality outlets, securing external funding, and supervising HDR candidates.
  • Contribute to School and University leadership and governance, supporting strategic initiatives, program management, and key administrative responsibilities, in line with RMIT Vietnam’s Academic Expectations and Development Framework.
  • Other duties commensurate with the scope of the role

Key Selection Criteria

  • A PhD in Finance (or an equivalent doctoral qualification).
  • Strong teaching leadership, with proven experience coordinating large Finance courses and delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate learning experiences.
  • Expertise in curriculum and learning design, with the ability to develop engaging materials and apply innovative, student-centred approaches to teaching and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated capability in program management, including leading a large program or multiple smaller programs within a university setting.
  • A strong and emerging research profile, with nationally recognised outputs and publications in high-quality outlets.
  • Proven research leadership, including building collaborative teams, mentoring academic staff, securing external funding, and managing research projects (including budgets and reporting).
  • Extensive HDR supervision experience, supporting higher degree candidates to achieve strong research outcomes.
  • High-impact stakeholder engagement and governance capability, including strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, and a commitment to quality, governance, university values, and student success.

Expected Research profile 

To be considered for a lecturer position at RMIT Vietnam in The Business School, you will need to be able to meet the following research criteria. 

  • For candidates with a PhD awarded within the last 3 years (Early Career Academic), although there are no requirements you are expected to be research active.  
  • For candidates with a PhD awarded within the last 3- 5 years there are requirements of peer reviewed journal articles published within the previous five-year window, you need to be active in relevant research areas.  
  • For candidates with a PhD awarded more than 5 years ago: you will be expected to demonstrate a minimum of 2 peer reviewed journal articles, of which must be ranked in Scimago or ABDC and preferably both in Q1/A ranking or equivalent, within the previous five-year window. 

To be considered for a Senior Lecturer position and above, The Business School operates a research active points system. Points are earned across a spectrum of research within a prior three-year window. Candidates for higher level positions will be considered against these criteria for shortlisting.
