Job Description

The Director of Insider Threat Investigations & Analytics is responsible for leading the organization’s insider threat program, driving a cross-functional strategy including detection, investigation, response and mitigation of insider risks. This role combines strategic leadership with deep expertise in analytics, cybersecurity, and risk management to safeguard sensitive data, intellectual property, and organizational assets. The director will oversee a team of investigators and analysts, develop advanced detection methodologies, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance and resilience.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the insider threat program aligned with organizational risk appetite and regulatory requirements. 
  • Establish governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for insider threat management. 
  • Lead and oversee complex investigations into suspected insider threats, including data exfiltration, fraud, sabotage, and policy violations. 
  • Ensure investigations are conducted ethically, legally, and with appropriate documentation. 
  • Conduct investigations across a diverse IT environment spanning SaaS platforms, cloud infrastructure, and on‑premises systems, ensuring effective log correlation, endpoint analysis, and cross‑environment attribution. 
  • Develop and deploy advanced analytics models and behavioral monitoring tools to identify anomalous activities. 
  • Partner with IT, cybersecurity, and HR teams to integrate data sources for holistic risk analysis. 
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, HR, and Security teams to manage cases and mitigate risks. 
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, intelligence community partners, and external threat-information organizations when appropriate, particularly in cases involving nation‑state–backed intrusions or actions by highly organized cybercrime groups. 
  • Provide executive-level reporting and insights on trends, incidents, and program effectiveness. 
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of investigators and data analysts. 
  • Foster a culture of integrity, confidentiality, and continuous improvement. 

Education: 

  • 4 Years Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Criminal Justice, or related field (Master’s preferred). 

Experience: 

  • 10+ years of experience in insider threat programs, cybersecurity investigations, or risk analytics. 
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Strong knowledge of data analytics, behavioral monitoring, and forensic investigation techniques. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR). 

Supervisory Experience: 

  • This job has supervisory duties 

Skills: 

  • Expertise in SIEM tools, UEBA (User and Entity Behavior Analytics), and threat intelligence platforms. 
  • Advanced understanding of data privacy laws and ethical considerations. 
  • Excellent communication and executive reporting skills. 
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CFE, or similar.
