Summary
The Design System Lead will help drive the vision, project management of a design system of visual style, UI components, and other design concerns. The ideal candidate will take a systems-mindset to build and integrate consistent, efficient components across the product portfolio. Emphasis will be on the complete systems lifecycle, from establishing a practice and vision that endures to design, build, document, and maintain a library used by many product teams.
Essential Functions
Be responsible for identifying business, design, and development needs, defining parameters for design system components, documentation, and governance, and leading teams to create and deploy functional and durable design elements.
Work with the development team on implementation of a React-based design system.
Document design system components to be implemented in the UX team’s workstream for design consistency.
Collaborate with other designers and cross-departmentally with product/development teams.
Extract meaning from user research data, making it easy to consume to move forward in the design process.
Clearly articulate and present concepts to the larger product team and other stakeholders.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Hands-on experience contributing to design systems including building adoption, guiding contribution and maintaining component libraries.
Expert knowledge working in design tools such as Invision, Sketch, Figma or similar.
Skilled at anticipating and designing for user needs by incorporating research, strategy and analytics.
Strong visual/verbal communicator with strong presentation, negotiation, collaboration and interpersonal skills
Able to provide a portfolio of design projects based on web / mobile applications.
Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) is a plus.
Rapid wireframing and UI prototyping to produce interactive experiences for usability testing.
Qualifications
H.S. Diploma required. Vocational training in related field and/or experience with industry tools.
Bachelor's degree in psychology, interaction design, visual design, human-computer interaction (HCI), computer science or UX degree preferred.
Five (5) years or more directly contributing to design and front-end components in React and Figma.
Five (5) years or more proven experience showing clear understanding of the intersection between user needs, technology requirements, and business goals.
Five (5) years or more gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineer.
