Job Title: Senior Consultant – SAP ABAP HANA

Introduction to role:

We are looking for a Senior Consultant with deep SAP ABAP on HANA and MDG expertise to help keep a complex global enterprise running at peak performance and support medicines reaching patients faster. This role sits at the heart of our digital transformation, where robust engineering and rapid problem solving keep critical processes flowing across continents.

You will join a senior technical team leading development, maintenance and new capability delivery across multiple SAP landscapes. From safeguarding master data quality to optimising performance in S/4HANA and ECC, your decisions will directly influence how efficiently we discover, make and supply life-changing medicines. Accountabilities:

  • Application Ownership and Reliability: Lead incident and problem management for complex SAP landscapes, restoring service quickly and preventing recurrence to protect business continuity.

  • Design and Development Leadership: Translate Functional and Technical Designs into robust build plans; author Technical Design and Testing documents that guide quality delivery.

  • MDG Engineering and Governance: Design and extend MDG data models, workflows and BRF+ logic; enforce data standards and replication patterns to keep master data accurate and trusted.

  • S/4HANA and Core ABAP Delivery: Build high‑performance RICEFW objects using ABAP, OO ABAP, CDS, AMDP and RAP; expose services via OData and REST to power modern UIs and integrations.

  • Integration at Scale: Engineer and maintain interfaces across S/4HANA, ECC and third‑party systems using DRF, IDoc, PI/PO, CPI, SLT and APIs; ensure resilient, observable data flows.

  • Quality Engineering and Testing: Define and complete unit, integration and regression testing; automate where possible to increase coverage and speed without sacrificing quality.

  • Release and Lifecycle Management: Prepare and deliver Support Packages and Enhancement Packs with Architects and Lead Consultants; handle changes via Solution Manager/ChaRM processes.

  • Performance and Optimization: Profile, tune and refactor code and data models to improve efficiency and stability; establish proactive measurements and dashboards for early warning.

  • Collaboration and Influence: Partner with Architects, Functional Leads and global teams; provide mentorship, code reviews and guidance that raise the engineering bar.

  • Continuous Improvement and Tooling: Identify and drive enhancements across ECC 6.0 EHP8, S/4HANA, PI, BW, EWM, GST, GBT, APO, ATTP, MDG, LSCV, SOLMAN, OMP, GST/Movilizer and third‑party systems; embrace AI‑enabled and digital tools in day‑to‑day work to improve outcomes and ways of working.

  • SAP MDG: Data Modeling (MM, BP, FI), UI Modeling (FPM/MDC), Rule-based Workflows, BRF+, Derivations/Validations, Data Replication (SOA/ALE), DRF

  • MDG Domains: BP (Customer/Vendor), Material, Finance (GL/Cost Center/Profit Center)

  • Integration: SAP S/4HANA, ECC, DRF, IDoc, OData, PI/PO, CPI, SLT

  • Fiori/UI: MDG Fiori apps, OData services, CDS views, UI enhancements, BAdIs

  • Data Quality & Governance: Duplicate checks, Match & Merge, Validation frameworks, Data enrichment, Consolidation

  • Workflow & BRF+: Rule modeling, Determinations, Approval workflows, Notifications

  • Technical Extensions: BAdIs, USMD* APIs, User Exits, BADIs for validations and derivations

  • Programming: ABAP, CDS, OO ABAP, AMDP; performance tuning

  • Migration: MDG Consolidation, MDG Mass Processing, LSMW/SLT, ETL coordination

  • CORE ABAP (RICEFW) and S/4 HANA (CDS/AMDP/Developer Extensibility)

  • OData API, REST services, ADT Tools (Eclipse), UI5 and Fiori/BAS

  • Modification concepts (Enhancement Framework/BADI/User exits)

  • SAP Integration (API/IDOC/PI-proxy/Files/Other)

  • Conversions (LTMC/BDC)

  • Forms (Adobe Interactive Forms/Smart forms/SAP Scripts)

  • Workflow ABAP

  • RAP

  • HTML5/JavaScript (SAP UI5)

  • Should have completed at least 2 SAP implementations along with support experience.

  • Commit to deliver quality and have a thorough approach.

  • Exposure to Run SAP (Solution Manager) methodologies.

  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proactive approach to problem solving.

  • Experience working in a globally distributed team.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Good understanding of the Solution Manager CHARM/Jira process.

  • BW, ATTP, GBT and APO skills.

  • Preferably an Engineering qualification (B.E / B.Tech) or equivalence.

  • Exposure to BTP Related services and applications
  • SAP certification on HANA Programming or SAP NetWeaver Development Associate / Professional level.
