Job Description:

Treyarch is looking for a passionate Senior Online Server Engineer to help bring our online experience to the next level. As an Online Server Engineer, you will be responsible for server stability, performance, multiplayer systems, online features, tools and more. You should be able to get quickly familiarized with an established codebase and be able to write elegant, high performing extensible code that works well within a collaborative environment. We have offices in Los Angeles and Vancouver and you will be welcome in either of these locales.

What you’ll do…

  • Design, Implement, debug and optimize systems in C/C++ and scripting languages.

  • Work closely with other Production, Engineering and Design teams as well as the Backend developers to prototype, develop and refine features.

  • Instrument, analyze, monitor and optimize our server cluster.

  • Help triage, maintain and update dedicated servers.

  • Participate in the performance and code review process.

  • Take ownership of larger Online systems or tools.

To succeed you should have…

  • 5+ years of programming experience focused on networking and online systems.

  • Shipped 1+ game title(s).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ and experience with a scripting language(s) preferably python.

  • Excellent knowledge of algorithms, data structures, performance, and multi-threaded programming techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, portable, reliable, and optimized code that complies with existing coding standards.

  • Proficiency in client-server networking architecture.

  • Good understanding of network protocols, RESTful APIs and JSON.

  • Ability to quickly understand and work with internally and externally developed code.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other engineers, systems designers and producers.

  • Ability to work well in a fluid, changing environment as creative challenges evolve.

We’d love it if you also have…

  • University-level degree in Computer Science or related field (preferably with an emphasis on Networking or Games).

  • Experience with Linux.

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages.

  • Experience with matchmaking and party management systems.

  • Experience in data science (SQL, visualization, analysis, pipelines).

  • Experience working with AWS, GCP or other cloud server APIs.

The standard base pay range for this role is $91,770.00 - $194,120.00 CAD. These values reflect the expected annualized base pay range of new hires in British Columbia, Canada. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
