Get to know Okta

Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology—anywhere, on any device or app. Our Workforce and Customer Identity Clouds enable secure yet flexible access, authentication, and automation that transforms how people move through the digital world, putting Identity at the heart of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you.

The Team:

The Okta Identity Orchestration (OIO) Services team’s mission is to help internal and external builders and developers integrate third party services with the Okta product suite. We do this by handling integration submissions from both internal and external developers – reviewing, testing, and publishing them. We also build and maintain best-in-class platform and tooling for internal developers to build, test, and deploy their OIN apps, workflow connectors, and action implementations.

Okta Integration Network (OIN) allows ISVs to integrate deeply with Okta that enterprises then use to give their workforce seamless access to the technology they need. Okta Workflows is a no-code platform for the automation of business processes, including user provisioning lifecycle management, using a library of integrated third-party applications and functions. By harnessing the power of the cloud, Okta allows people to quickly integrate different services, while still enforcing strong security policies. They integrate directly with an organization’s existing services such as directories and identity systems, as well as many other applications.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Application Analyst to expand the Okta Integration Network (OIN) using Okta's Workflow Automation and Integration Development Platform. Okta Workflows is a no-code solution to automate and orchestrate identity management processes, which comes with out of the box API integrations to cloud services, such as Google Workspace, Workday, Salesforce, Box, Slack, GitHub, and Atlassian.

Application Analysts at Okta will use Okta Workflows and its API integrations to build components which are made available to our customers. These customers can then use these components to create their own mission critical business workflows for thousands of users in production. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), developers, product managers, and external integrators. This role requires a unique combination of skills including the ability to design an elegant user experience that enables customers to build intuitive, reliable, secure and resilient business workflows.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review 3rd party integrations and provide design recommendations for visual integration components in the context of business use cases. Ensure that these adhere to Okta’s best practices, are secure, scalable, and resilient.
  • Become an SME for Okta’s top Workflow Connectors; proactively track ISV API changes to identify impactful changes and take it up with the appropriate development team for prioritization.
  • Build, own, and drive the software deployment process for Workflow Connectors: deploy connector changes using in-house tools, run Post-Deployment Verifications (PDVs) to ensure connector health, and monitor logs to identify customer issues.
  • Proactively suggest quality, scalability, and productivity improvements for the connector development and deployment tools you use.
  • Implement continuous testing, PDVs, and synthetic tests to monitor mission critical 3rd party integrations, metrics, alerting, and logging.
  • Collaborate with product management and leadership to conceptualize and implement sustainable and efficient processes.
  • Collaborate with technical writers to create and improve our customer-facing and developer-facing documentation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns (i.e. data structures, algorithms, and component design).
  • Basic understanding of server side programming principles (HTTP, Load Balancing, Database systems, Caching, Asynchronous processing, Webhooks, Serverless Computing, Cryptography, Authentication & Authorization).
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols and frameworks (i.e. OAuth, OIDC).
  • Fundamental knowledge of factors affecting API security such as CSRF attacks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to look beyond the surface and be sensitive to underlying problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to review third-party API documentation to determine the feasibility of implementing different types of integration patterns.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment. Not afraid of reaching out for help or delegating tasks as needed.
  • Well-organized, methodical, and documentation & detail focused.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for continuous learning.

Nice to Have:

  • 3+ years of user interface design (i.e. HTML and CSS).
  • 3+ years of coding experience (i.e. JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#).
  • An understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • API integration experience (REST/SOAP/GraphQL)
  • Knowledge of secure authentication concepts such as SSO, federated identity management, multi-factor authentication and digital certificates.
  • Prior experience developing reusable software components that other developers and business users will leverage.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a technical area
