Position Description:
Develops data analysis concepts and associated tools such as SQL, Python, Stored Procedures. Maintains and tunes stored procedures by leveraging database querying tools such as SQL, MySQL, and Snowflake (workspaces). Supports data capabilities by leveraging Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) technologies such as Informatica and Snap Logic. Works with data and databases, including data warehousing concepts and dimensional data models such as SQL. Provides analysis leadership on complex systems analysis projects, often across subsystems and companies, in a matrix organization. Consult with business users to develop recommendations that address difficult and complex business needs and opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads and conducts interviews with business users to gather requirements and analyzes technology needs and system and workflow challenges.
Develops recommendations that address difficult and complex business needs and opportunities.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex systems analysis projects and defines project scope.
Leads other analysts in the execution of documents on large and complex projects and monitors the quality and progress of documents created by other analysts.
Designs new systems based on requirements.
Leads and participates in the definition of test strategies, and coordinates user acceptance testing efforts.
Communicates progress of multiple projects to management, engages stakeholders on a regular basis, and manages expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
Serves as industry subject matter expert and identifies other subject matter experts who are the sources of requirements for large and complex projects.
Works with other teams to evolve standards and best practices for systems analysis processes.
Participates in incident/crisis management to assess business impact, determine/facilitate any workarounds, in concert with the production support organization.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies.
Coaches and mentor’s junior product analysts and developers on systems analysis techniques and business workflows.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) analyzing, designing, and developing data processing solutions using Informatica PowerCenter, Python, and PL/SQL in a retirement services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) analyzing, designing, and developing data processing solutions using Informatica PowerCenter, Python, and PL/SQL in a retirement services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) analyzing, designing, developing, and testing ETL processes and implementing ETL bulk data integrations, data movement, and pipeline design patterns, using Data Models, Data Mappings, Informatica PowerCenter, and PL/SQL; and validating data loads to target systems, using SQL scripts and ETL Automation.
DE maintaining and providing Quality Assurance support for data driven projects and writing SQL queries and Stored Procedures for data extraction and manipulation, to present test conditions, keep records on data, and conduct data updates on databases (Oracle, SQLServer, AccessDB, and Sybase) and data warehouses.
DE applying DevOps principles during the software development life cycle; performing Continuous Integration (using Jenkins and GitHub) and Continuous Deployments (using IBM UDeploy).
DE performing data analysis and data visualization for large amounts of pension data received and sent to internal or external systems, using TOAD, MS SQL Server, Tableau, and OBIEE.
