Job Description Summary:

Days (5:00pm-5:00am)

The RN House Supervisor is responsible for delivery of patient care on a given shift under the leadership of the Vice President of Nursing Services/CNO. The RN House Supervisor: manages and coordinates the delivery of patient care by nursing staff, supervises nursing care appropriate to the age of the patients and their respective levels of growth & development, and maintains the standards of professional nursing and patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, the environment/instrumentation, and collaboration with other health care team members. The RN House Supervisor provides adequate staffing for each nursing unit to ensure that patients receive the proper nursing care, provides administrative leadership to develop and evaluate all nursing personnel and maintains and improves the quality of nursing care according to approved standards, procedures and policies in the best interest of patients, visitors, physicians and associates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Supervision:

Directly reports to Vice President of Nursing Services/CNO

Directs nursing staff

Minimum qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State of Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • B.S. degree in Nursing with two years experience desirable, but not necessary, in lieu of five years experience in varied nursing capacities.
  • Current CPR training required.  ACLS  and PALS trained required.
  • Consistent mental application with involvement in planning, decision making, and constant alertness in observing and managing the work of others.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities, ability to work under stressful situations; possesses good oral and written communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice and ability to make decisions willingly and appropriately that reflect both knowledge of facts and good judgment.
  • Ability to act as a resource person for personnel of other hospital departments when applicable. Possess critical thinking skills.
  • Thoroughly familiar with the hospital organization, policies and procedures.
  • Must have a positive, professional attitude toward patients, visitors, physicians, and all SEORMC associates.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, exhibit initiative and good judgment, possess a memory for details, have patience, compassion and tact as required to meet the changing demands of the position.
