Reporting to the National Engineering Manager the Senior Project Manager - Engineering will manage the regional capital expenditure (Capex) process including planning of the annual Capex requirements and lead capital projects by following the project management flow, from project initiation through to project close. This position will be based out of our Guelph brewery location.
Key Responsibilities :
• Manage capital projects and improvements in accordance with the organization’s Capex Management Process.
• Lead project teams to achieve project deliverables. Project scope will include process improvement for equipment, brewery equipment, HVAC, building/structural.
• Provide input to the development of annual strategic capital planning and associated budgets for assigned region
• Support the new product development process as it relates to engineering
• Lead the regional implementation of national engineering standards and specifications
• Ensure that regional engineering practices comply with regulatory and legislative standards
• Improve existing or create new processes by analyzing people / machine / material / environmental issues and making appropriate improvements / changes
• Collaborate with Finance to maintain an accurate Fixed Asset Register and ensure process compliance; provide recommendations to revise related policies, as required
• Support the manufacturing facility to identify equipment obsolescence or end-of-life issues and create plans to mitigate risks
• Support manufacturing facilities in optimizing quality, safety, and operational efficiencies
• Support the deployment and management of continuous improvement initiatives
• Create an annual personal development plan to upgrade your skills and improve your ability to deliver value to the organization
• Maintain adherence to quality and food safety program standards to ensure food safety, quality and legal requirements are being met
• Perform other related duties as required
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in engineering or related technical field
• Professional Engineer designation considered an asset
• Minimum 7 years of experience in project management preferably in the food and beverage industry Brewery experience considered an asset
• Effective communications skills, both written and verbal
• Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Project; knowledge of CAD software required
• Experience in piping and instrumentation diagram and blueprint reading
• Demonstrated ability to analyze high volumes of complex data and create insights
• Proficiency in all aspects of capital project management, including budgets
• Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant Canadian regulatory standards and codes
• Demonstrated working knowledge in the areas of food safety, HACCP and/or ISO standards of quality, quality assurance, financial management
Working Conditions
• Perform work in manufacturing facilities approximately 50% of the time, and in an office environment approximately 50% of the time
• Travel required approximately 10% of the time
• Required to wear proper PPE to mitigate hazards present in production area
