Position Overview

Brookfield Credit is seeking an experienced Vice President to lead its Mortgage Loan Servicing (MLS) team. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of middle- and back-office operations for mortgage loans, including loan closing and onboarding, collateral management, transaction processing, and reconciliations. The MLS team also assists our Insurance clients with their Statutory and GAAP accounting and reporting requirements for their Mortgage and Real Estate portfolios. The successful candidate will serve a critical role in overseeing day-to-day operations, as well as leading projects that support our organizational growth (e.g. integrating acquired Real Estate credit portfolios onto the platform).   

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Real Estate credit investments, across a broad set of asset classes (e.g. commercial, residential, land), familiarity with a range of investment structures (e.g. rated notes, CLOs) and experience with insurance company servicing requirements.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Working closely with the Real Estate Credit Portfolio Management, Investment and Legal teams, oversee the onboarding of Mortgage Loans, accurately building loans in the mortgage loan servicing system and reviewing funding requests.
• Manage, coordinate and monitor the timely collection of all due diligence for the closing process and responsible for processing ongoing life cycle activity related to Mortgage Loans.
• Perform and analyze reconciliations of all principal and interest transactions and corporate actions to correspondents as well as to downstream investment and accounting systems.
• Ensure timely recording of data to facilitate regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and update control documentation for the various mortgage loan processes.
• Lead multiple projects, as required, such as integrating Real Estate credit portfolios from insurance acquisitions into the MLS platform.
• Create and evaluate reports for distribution to Senior Management, Underwriters, Investment department and rating agencies.
• Support Real Estate investment valuation process, including preparing data sets as required. 
• Work collaboratively with IT to develop, automate and maintain reports.
• Perform other related work as required.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA, Masters in Finance), CFA or CPA preferable.
• Minimum 10 years of overall work experience, with direct experience leading the middle- and back-office mortgage loan servicing function.
• Direct experience in serving insurance clients or in the middle- and back-office of an insurance business.
• Strong project management capabilities with an ability to coordinate and collaborate across multiple stakeholders and functional areas.

• Strong proficiency in Precision LM. Familiarity with tools such as Aladdin, Clearwater or similar is an asset.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team.
• Proven ability to work in dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environments, with adaptability to manage changing priorities and deadlines.

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
