Position Summary

CVS Health is seeking an experienced Sr Linux Cloud Engineer to join our team and take on the responsibility of developing, implementing and managing the RedHat Linux OS and container repositories for our cloud platforms across the enterprise. You will be tasked with designing, certifying and developing image configurations in close collaboration with our engineers to make sure CVS infrastructure platforms operate securely reliably and efficiently. In this role, you will play a vital part in the continuous improvement and growth of our Linux-based cloud platforms.



Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years' in Linux system administration and related tools, with a strong understanding of Linux operating systems (kernel level), network protocols, and security.
  • Experience with Linux Operating System Engineering or similar role involving a strong focus on secure build patching and updating.
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl to develop automation tools and frameworks.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with container technologies including open shift and kubernetes in both an on prem (bare metal) and cloud (Azure/GCP) capacity.  This includes supporting PODS, resource management and image lifecycle mgmt with a focus on security best practices.
  • Design, develop, and implement Linux-based infrastructure solutions to meet CVS Health's operational and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document hardware patterns and standards for open source/open systems hardware.
  • Determine hardware requirements and evaluate potential hardware solutions to ensure compatibility with CVS Linux derivatives and business requirements.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify the latest technology trends and apply them to enhance the Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of OS images, standards, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure-related issues, including performance optimization, system tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with peer groups, such as software developers and security teams to ensure the integrity, performance, and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure systems.
  • Establish performance monitoring and KPI’s and perform analysis of Linux-based infrastructure systems to identify areas of improvement and implement optimization strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and enforce Linux security policies, procedures, and standards including OS image certifications. Participate in the planning, configuration, and deployment of new Linux-based solutions and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
