Lead Material Handler - Night Shift 

Location: Puyallup, WA, USA - 208 Todd Rd NE

Shift: Sunday 5:30pm start. Monday -Thursday 6:30 pm start. Overtime is mandatory when required. shift subject to change based on the needs of the business.

Full-time, permanent. Benefit eligible.

This position will report into an Operation Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to perform all positions in the warehouse to company standards. 

  • Train individuals in inventory, receiving, picking, packing, quality control, sorting, loading, and replenishment functions. 

  • Ability to work various shifts based on staffing or DC business needs 

  • Operate Power Industrial Equipment as needed and maintain appropriate certification (cherry picker, reach truck, dock stocker and a powered pallet jack.) 

  • Primary trainer responsible for training associates in Inbound/Outbound processes including Receiving, Put-Away, Picking and packing for LUM, Food Town, Coolers, Bulk, Induction, SWOG, QC Check Stations and Dock processes (strapping, direct trailer loading) 

  • Ability to learn and perform outbound and inbound functions in which you are not already proficient in  

  • Be able to operate (or become certified) on Material Handling equipment including cherry picker, reach truck, dock stocker, and a powered pallet jack. 

  • Effective use of systems including but not limited to checking emails and responding to items impacting you and your area, AS400, Access Databases, RF unit, etc., to facilitate necessary people movement based on needs of operation.

  • Communicates and partners well with other leads and team members 

  • Makes timely and effective decisions based on objectives and goals.

  • Address issues effectively and immediately and do not avoid them as they arise.

  • Reinforce leadership team’s mission and objectives when out on the floor.

  • Effectively manage area of responsibility to assist with meeting OT% objectives.

  • Actively participates in shift start meetings, lead meetings, department meetings and all Employee Meetings.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Typically requires 5+ years of related experience

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 years of related experience. (A minimum of 6 months of McKesson experience is required for internal employees)

  • 6+ months of experience utilizing Power Industrial Equipment as needed and maintain appropriate certifications. (i.e., cherry picker, reach truck, dock stocker and a powered pallet jack.).   Training will be provided to those willing to learn and must be able to maintain certification

  • Ability to perform basic data entry, Excel, Word, Outlook on an Intermediate level 

  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems, SAP and other software is preferred

  • AS400 experience

  • Good communication skills with the ability to lead individuals, explain/train processes, as well as create and follow through on SOP’s 

  •  Must be a positive change team member that demonstrates passion and commitment to the success of the team and individuals

  • Good critical thinking skills with the ability to see the “big picture” and be proactive

  • Other tasks may be assigned to improve and maintain the proper training and support of the DC

Physical Demands (may include all or some of the following, some only on occasion):

  • General office demands

  • Must be comfortable working at heights

  • Must be comfortable working in refrigerated areas when required

  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles throughout the course of a shift (steps vary per shift) 

  • Ability to lift 20-40 pounds repetitively throughout the course of a shift without assistance; ability to lift greater weights in a team lift (weight varies based on product)  

  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day.

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day.

  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed.

  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.

  • May need to work in cold or refrigerated areas

  • Visual acuity to see and read fine prints. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to hear normal voice sounds.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$21.35 - $35.58
