RSM’s Center for Advanced Tax Technology (“CATT”) is a fast-paced, high-energy, collaborative environment that also happens to be one of the fastest growing tax practice groups at RSM. The CATT team is focused on enhancing RSM US and global ability to deliver comprehensive, value-added, and efficient Tax products and services to our clients. It is a dynamic team with professionals of varying backgrounds from tax functional, tax technical, technology development, and product management. The team consults and executes on a wide range of initiatives involving process and tool development and implementation including training development, engagement management, tool design, and implementation.
Job Summary:
The CATT Business Product Owner Manager supports CATT Process Leads and Tax Practice SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to understand how one or more product(s) fit into the overall “vision” for one or more business area(s). The goal of this role is to drive long-term scalability and sustainability of the business for a competitive advantage. To execute their area of responsibility, this role collaborates with staff, product teams, IT, other functional areas within the broader RSM firm, and field offices to ensure we achieve the vision cohesively and effectively. The ideal candidate will have experience defining end-to-end business processes and collaboration with product delivery (either custom-developed solution or a third-party licensed application) to optimize operations.
Essential Duties:
Collaborates with CATT process leads and Tax practice SMEs to understand how products fit into the overall "vision" for one or more business area(s).
Acts as primary FCS/internal functional owner/SME for assigned third party or custom developed solutions, maintaining expertise on products through their lifecycle, developing an in depth understanding of user experience and needs by partnering with tax professionals.
Works with CATT process leads to establish usage and product-related targets; assesses performance against these targets.
Understands the long-term strategy of how the products fit into the overall ecosystem and process (e.g., assists with process-related deliverables, such as process mapping and business requirements).
Works with end users and BAs to gather, analyze, and determine functional requirements for enhancements to existing tools/processes or implementation of new tools/processes.
Responsible for end-user product documentation/content including user guides, knowledge docs, and training materials.
Partners with tax practice subject matter experts in the development and maintenance of tax content within and between applications.
Develops workpapers, data mappings, and other tax specific deliverables and content within applications.
Translates business process needs into functional business requirements for enterprise-scale integrations development with technical delivery teams.
Designs, develops, and maintains low-code automations.
Maintains integrations with other CATT solutions and assists in the testing and maintenance of existing linked infrastructure.
Coordinates with development team or vendor to understand new features/functionality and works with Change Management, Readiness & Adoption, Process Leads, and/or business teams to socialize the timing of new capabilities and how they fit into end-to-end process.
Assists process lead(s) and business analysts with end-to-end process development, data flows, end-user process documentation including user guides, process flows, and training materials
For third party products:
Maintains low-fidelity product roadmap (e.g., timing of vendor releases and product updates; timing of field implementations of process and product updates; timing for integrations; timing for sunsetting applications; etc.).
Manages system configurations and administration; owns and drives the plan for upgrades and enhancements.
Acts as primary functional owner for managing business requirements for contracts and renewals with CATT Ops.
Represents the "voice of the business" and balances management needs with end-users' requests.
Partners with Change, Readiness & Adoption, and Business to lead implementation and ongoing adoption of products.
May serve as a Career Advisor including regular feedback, coaching, goal setting and training with assigned advisees.
Education/ Certification Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (preference given to Business or Technology or Accounting major)
Lean Six Sigma and/or IIBA certification (preferred)
Job Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a large-scale implementation facing role, handling highly complex issues (required).
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with leadership, managing managers and individual contributors (required).
Must be capable of dealing confidently and professionally at executive level and with customers (required).
Results driven; high integrity; ability to influence, negotiate and build relationships; superior communications skills; make complex decisions and manage change (required).
Effective communication skills for differing audiences and situations (required).
Prior public accounting experience with mid to large size firm(s) or other professional services experience (required).
Experience leading Business or System Analysts in Agile delivery methodology (preferred).
Prior management experience working within a national tax role in tax software, processes, or both (preferred).
Awareness of regulatory requirements (7216 Consent, GLBA, GDPR) and InfoSec policies and procedures (preferred).

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $107,900 - $184,800Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
