As a Patient Accounts Representative, you will research, analyze and reconcile patient account receivables, refunds, claims processing, patient statements and revenue cycle management. This role is essential to the ongoing organization within the Cleveland Clinic Finance Department, allowing you to use your skills to make a difference in patients, the community and beyond. 

This position offers several opportunities for professional development, including access to learning courses and cross-training across multiple business lines.

A caregiver in this role works remotely from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional on-site meetings.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Research, analyze and reconcile patient account receivables, refunds, claims processing, patient statements and revenue cycle management. 

  • Process claims and patient statements including claims generation, coding, data entry, edits and follow-up. 

  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current requirements relative to managed care contracts, Medicare, Medicaid, Worker's Compensation, and departmental policies regarding uninsured payers and discounts. 

  • Evaluate accounts and prepare adjustments to refund payments and correct discrepancies as necessary. 

  • Serve as a primary resource for responding to patient/payer inquiries regarding account balances and claim status. 

  • Assist with orienting, training and mentoring team members. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Two years of experience in patient billing or a related area 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Coding Certification 

  • Previous experience with IV infusion or DME services

  • Inpatient or some type of experience with working with accounts receivable

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. 

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.  

  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.  

  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.  

  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
