Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals while providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of provided common syllabi.

On-Campus

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives

  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods

  • Develops & maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials and maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements

  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College

  • Demonstrates evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular)

  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations

  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments

This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

A qualified faculty member in Cybersecurity / Information Assurance (CSIA) meets the program standard through one of five routes:

1. Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in cybersecurity / information assurance or information technology field as appropriate to the program with documentation in one or more of the following:

  • Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the information technology field

  • Two years of professional employment in the information technology field

  • Documentation of research and publication in the field

  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

OR

2. Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information assurance or related field as appropriate to the program

OR

3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in information assurance or related field as appropriate to the program

OR

4. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:

  • Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the information technology field

  • Two years of professional employment in the information technology field

  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence in higher education, including date of award

  • Documentation of research and publication in the cybersecurity/information assurance field

  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military

OR

5. Possesses an earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in two or more of the following:

  • Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the cybersecurity / information assurance field

  • Four years of professional employment in the cybersecurity / information assurance field

  • Documentation of research and publication in the cybersecurity / information assurance field

  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
