The Enrollment Services Professional (ESP) will provide support for students as they navigate the college system after completing enrollment steps. Emphasis will be placed on guiding new applicants through course registration for their first semester. The position will work closely with lead generation/applicant conversion and must be proficient within the Customer Relationship Management Platform (SalesForce). Responsibilities are cross functional to include: admission/recruitment; financial aid; registration/records; bursar functions. The candidate should possess and use problem solving skills for student transactional needs along with managing a case load of students to increase leads and improve conversion rates.

Major Responsibilities:

Pay Range: $43,000 - 45,000

  • Base location is in East Chicago

  • When needed the ESP will provide coverage at Lake County locations (Crown Point, East Chicago, Gary)

  • Serve as a daily resource for those applicants needing walk-in and virtual services related to college admissions

  • Manage lead and opportunity caseload in a way that promotes conversion with applicants

  • Maintain and monitor case notes in electronic student record systems

Registration related responsibilities: 

  • Counsel and assist students with registration process, answer questions and assist students with Degree Tracker and Schedule Builder

  • Participate in shared projects in coordinating and executing campus events such as, but not limited to, enrollment events, recruitment fairs, high school visits etc.

  • Conduct targeted outreach to newly admitted students to coach them through their next steps and help prepare them through the first weeks of classes

Assessment related responsibilities

  • Answer questions and assist students with processes related to assessment questions and reviewing/applying assessment waivers, make appropriate referrals to resources such as study materials, the Tutoring Center, or the Academic Advising Center

Financial Aid related responsibilities: 

  • Answer general questions and/or make referrals to the Financial Office for inquiries and completion of items related to the application for financial aid (FAFSA), verification, loan program eligibility and requirements, standards of progress, state and federal awards, scholarships, work-study opportunities

Business Support related responsibilities: 

  • Answer inquiries related to Bookstore accounts, fund disbursements, Higher One, tuition and fees, payment options, accounts, collections, and bursar holds. Make appropriate referrals to the Business Office when necessary

  • Assist students with college transactions to minimize students being transferred from department to department while escalating more complex tasks to functional experts

  • Work closely with the director of admission/recruitment and VCES

  • Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Admissions Related Responsibilities:

  • Promote and market events to leads and opportunities via Signal Vine, email and telephone counseling

  • Develop student campaigns for student outreach

  • Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued, supported, and respected

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required with one (1) to three (3) years' related work experience; or

  • Associate degree with three (3) to four (4) years' related work experience

  • Two years of experience in customer relations, recruiting, sales are essential

  • Prior experience in K-12 or higher education is preferred

  • Leadership experience to solve challenges and provide solutions for improvements is essential

  • Experience in technical platforms (Teams, Zoom, CRM, Microsoft office, Banner)

  • Ability to take initiative and complete tasks

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment related to college policies

  • Flexibility to attend meetings or events after normal working hours
